I'm selling my Alfa 166 Super Lusso. I bought it as I always fancied one but now want to move onto something else. As far a 166's go it's the one to have as it has the 3.0 220bhp v6 engine and 6 speed manual box rather than the troublesome selespeed.
It's fantastic to drive, goes like stink and makes that fantastic v6 Alfa noise.
It has a few issues none of, which stop it being used. The paints not great as the bonnets a bit flat and one of the rear doors is a darker shade of silver. The alloys could do with a refurb as the laquers peeling, it's running some weird camber at the back, could do with a top engine mount, the bonnet cables sticky, hurricanebawbag blew a tile off my roof and it dinked the wing and finally it'd due a timing belt.
I know Alfa timing belts usually cause peoples head to explode but I've got the service manual and it looks pretty straight forward as you can get access via the wheel arch. The kit including tensioners is £80 odd quid on gsfcarparts.
Right the good stuff. No rust, it's got a crackingRed leather interior with electrics seats that all work. The little TV, which controls sat nav and climate control actually works as does the SAT NAV. It's got a CD multichanger in the boot, tons of airbags, traction control etc.
There's no warning lights or anything on dash and the service book is stamped up to to about 90k.
It's really nice to drive, very fast and sounds fantastic once past 4000 rpm. You can easily light up the fronts in third on a wet day should you have a heavy foot. I've forgot how nice it is to drive a fast petrol car after years of driving miserable dizzlers. It's also got fantastic brakes as it's got pretty humungos brembo calipers up front. Much better than my newer Audi A6
I'm pretty keen on getting 750 fixed for it as I paid more for it than that and have fixed a few of it's gremlins. I doubt you'll get more performance for your money. I could be interested in a PX/Swap with something fast or old but don't want to travel 8000 miles to do the deal.
If I don't sell it I'll probably fix the issues and take it to the nurburgring next year.
