Well, now... I don't feel very retro at all with my 97 'tro, having looked at all your lovely proper retro rides However, here he is- "The Little Beast" I hasten to add in terrible shape, when I bought him for £250 in April (birthday present to myself! hehe!) **I can't believe it, but the only picture i have from when i first bought it won't load!! haha! Will post more pics soon methinks!** Look at what the last owner got up to with the rear arches!!! (yes those are nova trims- it took me and boyfriend 4 whole days to even notcie!) I have given him a good seeing to But the damn thing still failed MOT, and is currently sat round the back of the house, patiently awaiting further developments (actually, i'll be honest- its a few different colours now, and the grille has some missing sections, but i'm just experimenting til warmer weather and i can't possibly let y'all see him like that!!) I'm seriously considering a mk3 conversion on the front end, and i'm always looking out for gta alloys, but in the main, i genuinely can't decide how best to make him beautiful again all ideas very welcome heehee xx

Looks a good car, mk3 front end is a win, would look nice as a GTi like this; Edit: Look on eBay there are a few alloys on there, cheap and smart, if not there is a set on swapz, not GTa just 4 spokes, iirc they where 100.

Thank you Ben that's exactly what i'm thinking!!! Love the mk3s, and sneakily already thinking of sticking a gti lump in it when the mileage runs up (he's only on 65k at the moment) Of course, the boys in my club all immediately started screaming for the vvc when i bought it lol think maybe i shoudl get a couple years driving experience before i attempt driving anything that mental lol i found a set of wheels on pistonheads a few months back, but i only just missed out -set of 4 for £30!! will check swapz- thanks x

If you're stuck for ideas, look at old British racing cars for inspiration. Keep the racing green paint and add some big white circles for putting numbers in. A few sneaky performance tweaks, some nice alloys and a bit of lowering would see it be a lot of fun for very little outlay. Maybe even take a few hints from minis and paint the roof cream or black.

You won't find any shortage of Metro Love on here. That brings back memories of doing Castle Combe Action Day in my mate's brand-new (as in 55m on the clock) 100 Kensington he'd picked up from the factory on the ACOP (employee lease) Scheme two days before. Great fun to drive, even if we did drive it home with borked front tyres. ;D Here's one I snapped earlier this year at the Pride Of Longbridge Rally in Birmingham's Cofton Park. Welcome to Retro-Rides!!! ;D

Ooh, you lovely lot... Hadn't even thought about ye olde racinge cars...e... love the idea of the numbered spots and cream roof... would look even better with the mk3 front end, too... hmm... now i have too many ideas hahaha! I am despaerately in love with that little blue baby there- the wheels look amazing!!! Sadly because mine's an ascot regular edition, the bumpers aren't colour coded, so that's more cash to dole out for the se bumpers...
Also, i know this sounds daft, but has anyone added a second rear fog light? i want to get another offside one and flip it so i have one each side... i don't like to think i might be on the motorway in fog one day with only one fog light :S lol

That blue one does look excellent, I particularly like what they've done with the wheels. Metro not a proper retro? I don't agree with that! ;D They're lovely looking little cars and you can do a lot with them. They drive really well too. I'll be interested to see what you do with yours. David

Keep Your bumpers black. Just clean them up with a heat gun and some Linseed oil.
I think black bumpers will add to the look!

lol i always said everyon'e forst car should be a metro lol- i never thought mine would be in honesty, but life has a funny way of making you keep your promises lol. I cannot get the cream/ green racing look out of my head- it's the first suggestion i've had thats really got me excited i'm really not sure about the black bumpers, though... think maybe i'll leave them til last and see what i think? I work in a creative fireld, and can normally envision an end product, but the metro 'vision' stops at the headlights and i really can't see in my head the bumpers either way lol Still think i'll go with my gta alloys, but i may well keep the sttelys back and do something similar to the one above. might even go racing green with a cream rim... i likes thinks to match up, i does lol

lol I always said everyon'e forst car should be a metro I've just bought a 1996 Rover 100 Knightsbridge for my daughter's first car. I'll have to use it for 18 months first, though, because she isn't 16 yet!
