Hang on a sec! What if I was to give 4 of my mates a lift to the pub/club and they bought my Cola for the night as payment to cover my driving them and petrol etc!?! Does that mean I'm driving around illegally then? Same as if 2 sets of parents decided that 1 of them would drive the kids to the prom and another parent drove them home, surely that's not illegal? In my mind thats giving a lift to a group of your kids friends! Maybe I'm missing something!?!

This isn't really that though is it. Its a clear appeal for a car for reward or hire. Which would invalidate your insurance policy. Most policies exclude use for private hire and therefore if you crashed you'd be uninsured.
I'm sure dbizzles colleagues wouldn't be happy if whoever was transporting them crashed causing serious injury and they had no form of insurance.

Blimey, it looks like D_Biz and Technics are going to have to draw up a 200-page legal document so the responsibilities of all parties are clear in this venture, and submit it to the online R-R legal team for approval. When approved, any passengers will then have to read and sign it before travelling. Problem solved! You just need to take a pragmatic approach.

in short no. if they are covering your expences then thats not hire and reward as your not rewarded. youve broke even. as soon as it becomes profitable then yes its illegal.

I did this last year in the Zodiac. I just invoiced for something else. I was a mate taking a mate to his Christmas party with the added bonus of two pretty ladies in the back, simple as.
Oh, and I also got some chocolates, too. CALL THE LAWYERS!
