The Cadillac won't start due to lack of electrickery. However it has a (non standard) second battery. If starting it from a booster should I just jump the first battery as per normal? Or across both? And if so how do I connect the booster?
Begining to think the best idea is to remove and charge both batteries individually and then refit and start her up.

my chevy g20 diesel truck had the same problem unless you have something with a monsterous v8 engine don't bother (well mine didnt play and we tried with w sherpa with a brand new battery and a £300 jump pack to no avail) I took mine off charged them and it started up no problems (for about a week until i realised the alternator was w*nked then i had to replace it and the batteries.
I read in my g20 manual later that you have to disconnect one of the batteries or connect it a certain way if you jump it to get it to work (at work at the mo and it escapes me what that way is (i can provide a scan when i get home if you want...

normally the second battery will have only one positive lead, the other will have loads. remove the earth off the second battery, as it "charging" will lessen current able to jump. if you got 2leads, and 2 jumpers use them!

I've jump started both an Isuzu Trooper and Mitsubishi Pajero by just connecting up to either battery and leaving everything connected. Both had ancilliary batteries as standard (which were only slightly smaller than the main starting battery).

I've removed the second battery now. I need it for another car LOL but useful info for the future.

Charged and jumped loads of cars with double batteries, just connect one of 'em, otherwise you'll charge them with 6v / battery You'll also charge both of them even if you just connect one to the charger.

This all depends on how the batterys are connected. Are they both 12V? Is it a 24V starting system? Is one battery for starting and the other to power the rest of the electics?

Just jump it on the one that the starter runs from then. Disconnect the other one otherwise it will just act as a drain.
