hey guys. I'm just looking round my room and i have loads and loads of car related stuff.
I'm talking years of Practical Classics, Auto Express; a whole bunch of Skoda brochures and stuff, and then another huge amount of general brochures. of more recent years, stuff that I've collected...but when i look at it ... i don't quite know why i keep it coz i never look at any of it.
i only really want the skoda stuff...what would you do? keep it, or chuck it all out?

I have loads of car mags, despite numerous clearouts. SWMBO has forbidden more than 1 box coming to our first house..... However, I can't complain too much , as I have a year to go through them and cut out any stuff I want to keep, and also all my models & model kits are allowed!!! I would advise keeping it organised, and culling some of it sooner rather than later (ie before you are forced to, but space considerations / parents etc). My dad threw out loads of my mags whilst i was at uni as my room at home was stacked FULL of them

^ in that pic you have, 2 boxes of skud related articles etc, 2 boxes of SOC mags, and some Land Rover mags in the end...plus some model boxes which i'll probably never use again. ^ here you have a big pile of more skud stuff at the front, blue peter manuals ( poss to go on ebay ) under the red bag is loads of PC mags...2x PS2 boxes..in one is a dead PS2, there is also a pile of more articles on the 2nd shelf...and i cant quite remember what is along the bottom shelf, but i think it is PC. ok...so is that too much? btw ... if anyone wants any of what they see (apart from skoda stuff) they can have it if they pay for postage...

I was the same. I had literally 10+ years worth of Fruit Machine, Custard Cart, PC etc. Loads of Classic Car Weekly, Retro Rides et al. Enough was enough, i could hardly move in my bedroom for old Mags, it actually became a bit depressing So i became ruthless & went through 'em all just ripping out bits i wanted & binning the rest! I know i'll kick myself one day, but you gotta take a step back & ask yourself 'do i REALLY need to keep 'em' Do the right thing, keep it real & have a proper job turn out. Think of the space you'll be freeing up for more important tat! ;D

I went through a whole bunch of old mags I had a while back and tore out any pages with interesting articles and put them into clear pockets in a binder. Takes up a lot less space and I still have the stuff for reference if ever I need it.

My technique too I have probably 600-700 motorcycle mags in boxes - when it gets to winter I'm gonna have an ebay frenzy!! Car ones Probably 150-200 but I'd already ebayed a fair few of them and their is a lot of competition in that area on the bay

^ thats what i am gonna do... It's funny but pages cut out of mags didn't seem as popular on the bay but it worked out about the same you can do the postage real cheap and they seem to sell...... One full mag maybe £2.50 to £3.00 tops plus £1 postage Same mag sectioned 5-6 articles -£1 each article and £0.30 postage and most of the time 3/5 will sell!!! Nice sharp scapel to cut em up helps!!!

I have over 10 years worth of Autosport in the loft, only read each one once and can't face throwing them, also got about 10 other boxes of assorted car mags filling the void above me

I've bought car/bike magazines for the last twenty four years, for the last ten years I've been on the mailing list of at least ten at any one time, plus my other random purchases. I really have no idea how many I've got, but there isn't a room in my house without some, and my garage has boxes full. Three months ago I got rid of some for the first time, and it felt good. I realised I was never going to use them and I couldn't be bothered to ebay or advertise them in anyway, it might have something to do with them devaluing in my eyes now I'm a writer, but I just didn't use them. I filled the boot and back seat of my car to the point the suspension was looking troubled, and had them recycled. There is so much new stuff to look at today, I rarely have time to look back. That said I still must have 1000+ mags lying around, so you've got a way to go yet...
