Arg! Two people in as many months have come to me wanting to buy my W115 Benz... At the minute it's laid up at a mates yard with fuel problems - not hard to solve but having the time and the money on the same day is proving difficult. I quite often get people wanting to buy it, but I've never been interested. But just recently I've been thinking about other cars I could get... BMW 6 Series, something tax exempt, etc etc... Thing is, I've owned the Merc for nearly 5 years and I've become really attached to it. I've already decided to sack off the Volvo 264. I don't have the time for it and I've completely lost interest (if anyone wants it for very little cash I'd be happy to let it go) There's also the danger that, if I did sell it, I'm so skint at the moment that the money may get swallowed up on less important curse word like bills and food. Argh what to do?! Someone talk some sense into me please! ;D

Do not whatever you do sell it! Its seriously not worth the anguish you'll go through seeing it leave you and imagine how your gunna feel when the time and money coincide and the thing fires upo and you drive it agian big all round. Don't sell it its to cool!

Don't do it! The Benz is deeply lovely. And we can't go round calling you 635CSiBoy. It just sounds curse word. Prioritise - sack off everything else you don't need (other cars included) and get the beast back on the road. Once you're pimping your wares in it again, the 'feeling' will come back straight away. I get like this with my BMW sometimes. Then I take it out for an extended play and all is well in the world again. That said, if they are offering you so much cash you canna refuse.....

Good question. I'm pondering exactly the same thing. Do you need to sell it to get out of the red, or just the grass is greener? Did you pay saved money for the Benz, if so the sale should fund another, then ask would that actually buy another better car/would you actually be able to save on top for a better car? if its bought/maintained with debt and you are screwwed up in the red and wont miss it too much then go for it and get outta the debt man! Personally I'm having a bit of an 'alistairk' moment ;D , my fleet has done me no time/money favours and selling the lesser cherished MR2 is looking like the way forward once i have used the insurance and tax just to get back on the straight and narrow. Sapph needs an MOT and a trade in for something i can haul junk and cameras in. other stuff i need to do and cant right now....

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

It's not getting me in debt, and running cost-wise, it's cost me a thermostat and a propshaft bearing in the whole time I've owned it (most reliable car I've ever had!) If I did sell, it'd be to fund another car purchase, but I think I'd always miss the Benz. Selling it is a stupid idea - I'm glad everyone here agrees! It's just so tempting to think I could go and buy another (working) retro with MOT and tax (both are almost up on the Benz )

Depends how much they are offering and if you want another more then. easy to want an MOT'd one but even that will need MOTing in the near future...
