i bought the mag today (against all my principals), but i wanted to see nightmares car (sh*t hot by the way mate ) and as usual the mag was curse word. The CaRS feature was worse, they don't know what Rmads Cressy is ("retro Toyota") and don't know what the rims are on Preet's sex machine 610. They missed all the good cars Bodydrops Nova - inspirational Slater Mini - a fresh Mini Sir Pornos Sapporo - J tin Perfection Well really the whole RR Stand. Its bad enough they ignore the "real" retro scene all year, but it takes the mick when they organize a show, hundreds of people park hundreds of amazing and obscure stunningly modified cars within a 100ft off the Retro Cars stand and they still don't get it. i have 2 words for you people; [glow=red,2,300] Retro Driver[/glow] The revolution starts with us!!!!!!!!!!! rant over

no pictures of the beach buggies there, none of the bugrat and none of the nymph. my favourite cars of the show (and in the case of the nymph and the bugrat, the rarest cars since iv never seen another bugrat or nymph in photos or in the metal) and not a single picture.

don't know bout anyone else but I'm getting board with the same old format all the car magazines seem to have. they don't seem to reflect the culture or the personal idenitys and characteristics of the people behind the cars which is somthing which is very intresting/indeering that a forum convays more promantly and is all the better for!
id like to see a magazine more along the lines of ride bmx mag or any of 4130's titles (mags made by the people for the people -cheese but true)- but about old school cars. would like to have a go myself which is somthing ive thought about for a while.
a mag based arround this site would be a good starting point indeed and i bet all the skills are allready hear on the forum!

AAAARRRGGGHHHH I had to come back on here as that cheap shot at tom(phatphord)has really wound me up. Who are they to comment on that car, they clearly know nothing about the lowrider scene and general car culture, that car is so unique in this country due to the nitrogen(i only know of one other and it was built by an air specialist)but that totally went over their blinkered heads. It's not like it's mgb or something so why comment on it. I would rather them take a shot at my nail as i don't even get it sometimes and don't really care for the publics thoughts anyway. I never really bought that mag anyway as i don't get excited about an xe in a sunbeam etc etc ,most of it's old hat and can be done in a weekend if you've got your head screwed on same as any motor swap you do one and you know what your up against next time. They should stick to features on Datsun's running high14 sec quarters, that should set the curse word world on fire

I get annoyed wih the same cars always appearing in pics from shows, not so much an issue in RC mag, though they did show several feature cars in the show report. In the VW scene the same lineup of over accesorised Beetles always get a prominant photo in every issue, you get tired of seeing them and its a nice change to see some different cars every once in a while

That Farking Manta with the 4.0 24V rocker cover gets on my tits- every bloody time it's out they photo it!!!!
I'm not bitter but it's a first size overbore with flip all tuning under the cover and if it makes more than 204 bhp I'll eat me hat (bought a straw one just in case ;D)

Regarding the Scorpio comment...they could have meant that the original is so ugly that it'd be impossible to make it worse, it's a long shot I know but maybe it was actually a complement?
Can't complain too much though, an R-R cover car can't be a bad thing - and it's not just another historic race prepped something-or-other!

The thing that gets on my tits about retro cars is the way they seem to be anti certian cars. When was the last time you ever saw them say anything genuinely nice about a mini. curse word they even called the Metro "the thinking mans mini", as if to imply that anyone who owns a mini is an idiot! I'll take a Mini over a Metro anyday, regardless of what some halfwit journo says

I must say, thats how I read it....! I'm sure they're not gonna openly diss someones ride like that, just in case they follow pogs advice and have a dop in their driveway in protest.

They missed all the good cars Bodydrops Nova - inspirational Slater Mini - a fresh Mini Sir Pornos Sapporo - J tin Perfection I was gobsmacked that drag racing class winning sleeper Granada with the big-block V8 didn't get photos and a Show Spotlight section to itself. Car of the show for me, and I don't like fords much! Also, if we're dissing the mag - the amazing looking Jensen Healey is the worst feature I've read since VolksWorld. It's pretty much just the shopping list for the car. It's the tech spec but in longhand. Dreadful stuff IMHO. (Thought the rest of the mag was alright though - liked the comment in the "Seperated at birth" section: "After stirring up some controversy last month by suggesting 2 cars built on the same floorplan, we've opted for something less disputable this time...") <edit> And how on earth do you write an article on unusual engines without mentioning the Rotary-Wankel?!?

I really don't like that Healey, not read the article yet, but if he's trying to create a Cobra clone, theres cheaper ways looks completly wrong to me

Got the mag now,.. It was a bit of an RR take over with 2 of the main articles being RR cars, and written by RR members. Dissapointed with the CaRS show report. They seemed so happy about having the Deloreans there they commented on it on every page of the report. Sorry but they are not retro cars, nice though they are. Where was the Granda? the white Astra Van? bodydrops Nova (okay they had the bonnet but surely the whole car is worthy of pictures)? Slaters Mini? Mogwhy? to name a handful off the top of my head. Although seeing the RR badge on Ministrone's car gave me a smile Austin Healeys belong in Classic and Sports cars... why when they have a reporter in America do they feature so many British cars that are based out there? There is so much more intersting stuff they can feature. Beyond the 2 rr cars and the healey, everything else is a racing car AGAIN! Also what the hell is up with the cover? You can hardly see their cover car! Next month looks interesting with the Youngtimer cup cars (only 3 years too late). Lets see if they manage to balls that up as well. For those wanting something a bit different, a bit more car culture savvy, a bit more fresh... Its arriving at the end September/start of October.
