Just for a comparison (if the link is broke look for Ebay item 330605519028 ) ... www.ebay.com/itm/330605519028?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_562wt_922What looks like a tidy drivable 105E saloon + a very nice 105E Estate for spares (shame the Estate has a destruction notice on it ) Not sure how you cost the spares you put into the rebuild but last time I looked at the price of 105E wings they weren't cheap 2 new wings or the 2 cars above .... Hmmm Either way - we need pics of the project ;D

Why don't you restore soemthing worth saving instead of a crappy old saloon. there are still hundreds of those. I have this about to go to the scrap man. Its missing the rear axle and most of it is rust. The inner wings are not attached to anything, but it does have a roof ;D this is worth saving if your brave or man enough Yours for weigh in price.

Good man, Ken. I was debating whether to send him in your direction because I know you've usually got a few dead vans passing through ;D

You have to rebuild that van, at least it resembles a vehicle.

Why not start with just one Wheelnut with a stripped thread and build an Anglia up from that - it makes just about as much sense.

Another build thread to add to my ever growing list of improbable restoration threads. For all that van looks crusty, there appears to be most of the important bits still there, if not entirely free of crust and damage.

Just to add to the history of the van. Some of you, especially those who live in South Lincs, may or may not remember in Practical Classics about 2001 ish, the plight of a guy called John Wright. He owned an extremely large scrapyard in Holbeach St John in the Fens. It was reported at the time that about 1200 classic cars were to be crushed/baled if they were not rescued, as the yard was closing. The one picture PC showed was of this van. Needless to say at the time I collected anything anglia van wise, and was quickly on the scene to rescue said van. Bearing in mind at the time I lived 70 miles away. Ironically, fast forward a few years, I then moved to Spalding just literally up the road, and the van was bought back to Lincs from where it started its journey in the first place!! It was originally stored inside in when I first got it, but up here had to be outside, and the last few years had taken its toll on it unfortunately. Weirdly the roof and gutters have survived well, as these are normally the first bits to go. There are more panels available for vans now albeit at a price, but they are completely different to the saloons from the screen pillars back. Trim parts very difficult to obtain, so it will be indeed a challenge. So good luck Richard.

But if anyone knows of anything simlar please get in contact or post pics up etc I'm looking for either anglia or 100e maybe mk1 cortina etc you must be a brave man, i probably scrapped better ones?

I still have the van and have done quite a bit of work on it over the years . It has taken a while to get hold of the panels needed to restore it
it has needed
Complete inner front wings Both Front chassis Rails Full centre floor x member complete floor and tunnel Lower bulkhead Both Rear chassis legs Complete sills Flitch and door pillars All Doors Front wings front panel and bonnet Screen pillar repairs Lower rear 1/4 and arch sections
Still a way to go but will update the thread later this year with some pictures as the van is in storage at the moment
