Hi, Until last year I restored old race cars, 250 SWB Ferrari's, DB4 GT's and Cobra's were everyday stuff where I worked. Then Houses, babies and marriage cost too much and I've got a job in an office that pays much better. Problem is I'm missing the old car factor in my life. I still haven't got enough cash to have a second car to play with and 40+ mile commute each way and a near zero bank balance rules out a car change. I need inspiration to make the most of what I already have which is my wife's old Coupe, she now has my BMW as the baby seat doesn't fit the Coupe. So if you have a pic of a good looking Hyundai Coupe, its the facelift one, post it up Many thanks

Ok so 2001 Hyundia coupe is a bit new for this site and a lot of people wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, l thought l'd post a few pictures so you don't feel left out. At the end of the day we can't blame you for what you drive as it was your wife ride. I'd trade it in but cheap diesel to run around in to save cash and get something else interesting to fix that oily OCD My wife drives a Kia Sedona and she hates that!! wants a Figaro but can't fit 4 kids in that!!

The Genesis isn't a bad car. Thats the RWD V6 one? Did I hear that they have a V8 in development?
Coupe is a bit of a funny one, but I see your predicament. I'd go with the save your pennies for something as a toy really.

I love that new genesis.
2001 would be the f2 evo right? the one with twin headlights, I prefer the older f2 one with the accent x3 style lights. (I like hyundais no matter what anyone else says and I can say they're good from experience)
there was a modded one near me in purple and silver which looked quite nice, I'll see if I can find a pic online.

As for inspiration....... my google fu is weak and search results for cool looking Hyundai coupes are thin on the ground. But IMO give one "the treatment" decent wheels + lows and you'll be on to a winnar. The internet seems to suggest the stud pattern is 4x114.3 so there is a wealth of japanese fitment wheels avaliable. Rota.......

I never liked the headlights on the RC2, so I tried googling untill i found a good one. I tried using Tiburon and various other permutations but nothing good happened. So since "everything has potential" I thought I'd try a photochop. I'm still not entirely convinced but I think it's a good looking car and definitely a big improvement on the usual bodykitted stuff.

Yep, I prefer the old style head lights.
They do look good in red with 17" OZ supertourismos and a slight drop (-40mm).

Do these Coupe's share there underpinnings with anything else? Coilovers aren't cheap haha, but suspension setup looks similar to Mk2/3 Golf on the Front........Just wonder if they could be adapted.

He took the same car up the Pikes Peak hill climb and now holds the 2wd record.

I gotta say I think the Coupe is a nice shape for a modern - especially when you consider it's a Hyundai. I reckon a nice set of alloys and a mild drop would work wonders. Definately a car with potential for not a lot of outlay.
