Might be worth importing a few to offset the cost of a personal import. Only thing is, would someone in the UK pay 4-5 grand+ for a Datsun 240K Skyline,.. or similar? I think there might be some money in AE86s. I do suspect that with a little education people would by some tuned older stuff (like Skylines) for track days and drifting. It would be interesting to see what interest there is in Eddie's 510...has he had any offers? The 510 scene is virtually unknown in the UK...if interest was raised over here and people wanted them they'd need to come from somewhere...let's fill a warehouse with 'em and then start a buzz!

I was thinking something similar,.. I only really know abotu Japanese cars because of this place,.. THE photos from that bosokuzu thingie,.. Eddie's 510 in Retro Cars (the only issue of Retro Cars I don't actually own!),.. I think you could import a few of the cheaper things and maybe one or two "star" cars,.. like the earlier skylines and something else similarly interesting,.. (Mazda Cosmo ) ,.. I think the AE86 market is pretty much already sown up!

The UK must be the ONLY place the 510 isn't popular, a decent example and even sloppy ones sell here (and Oz) for a fairly ridiculous price considering, however... you may find that price cheap being our currency is pretty pathetic

Funny how prices vary country to country, isn't it? For a start split window campers seem over the top to me price wise in the UK, with really nice original ones going into huge money these days, and yet the last time I picked up an Autotrader style magazine from West Virginia, the same motors were going for half the price, and British cars were going for some really high prices, even right hand drive rusty UK private imports. Obviously the VW is far more common in the US then the UK, and the MGB etc vice versa. Similarly, and old Volvo, besides an Amazon, P1800 or earlier, is worth curse word all here, on account of their old man reputation, but in Scandinavia, where they know what they're getting into, people are starting to pay real money for them, and treating even the boxy ones as classics.

Update! There's now some pictures up of the other C110 on trademe.co.nz Here they are... Several things are giving it away as an actual JDM Nissan C110 as opposed to an Export Datsun C110 so I've asked a question to see what's the deal exactly... should prove interesting.

They do indeed! Amazon prices aren't too high in this country at the moment, but a few years ago in Holland (IIRC, 1995), a concours Amazon estate reputedly sold for £18,000!!!! (The equivelent UK car would probobly struggle to fetch much more than £6,000.)

Shame I've only just got back from your part of the world or I'd have been after that like a shot! Not sure what the deal is with importing old cheap (knackered?) stuff is though....Also the 6 hour drive once I get off the ferry is pretty pants at the best of times.... Maybe on my next "overseas" jaunt.....
