£50 sounds about right. They have differant rates for differant stuff. If you weigh in engines alone you get more than if you weigh in cars because of alot of the weight in a car is the plastic parts!
If your paying to have cars taken away your being mugged out tbh!!

You can get paid for ytour scrap, Jesus they rob you blind if you want to scrap a car round here. Which explains why everyone lets things rot in their gardens or dumps them in someone elses.

It's not at the moment BGTMIDGET7476, scrap is fetching between £50-£60 per ton, even if it's still a complete car. That's using scrap yards in nottingham & mansfield

As i said in some stolen secion, cars were being lifted off the street if they were old/aboandoned/not chained down, and the scrap lifters were making a fast buck! Quite worrying if you have a rat looker or just a an old retro, lucky my Capri was off the public roads at the time!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

You sure Golden wonder, I rang up about scapping the 4x4 Sierra and they said they would charge me £50 to do so, however it was a the beginning of the year so your probably right. Plus It was podders though which are renound for trying to rip you off. Did not scrap it in the end.

It has gone up a lot recently, esp in the last 2-3 months. Wouldn't use Podders anyway, only 1 mile from work, but I'd rather drive 20mins to Rainworth & get treated decently-nice little scrappy there if you don't know about it?

Lad that runs a little outfit called Alpine Scrap will come and collect any scrap, including cars, for nowt. I have his number somewhere. Seems decent enoug - even had some sawdust on his wagon when we spilt some oil on my drive from one of the engines.
Car/scrap/whatever gone without hassle, he makes a few quid, everybody happy.
BTW Spring Lane scappy are actually friendly(friendly breaker man shocker!), and pretty reasonable

Bastards the lot of you! Round here you have to pay them to come and get them. The price of metal seems to have gone up a bit thought - as the viva I had taken away I got done for free.
£75 for any old MOT failure you can find eh? Pffft.

Many London councils were picking up anwanted cars for free (not sure they still are) as car dumping has hit really high levels. I suspect that with the price of scrap obviously dumped cars these days are picked up by other scrap merchants before the council gets to them....
