Yeah, but if you want to pay less tax on everything then sign this one instead simples: epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/356I've been campaigning to promote this one like crazy. I can't make you but I can suggest you all click the F for facebook to encourage others to sign it as well. The fuel problem is just a symptom. Why not see about fixing the cause.

petition to stop the UK invading other people's countries might save us enough money that we can afford to cut taxes without having to close hospitals and libraries...

no, but you can thank it for type approval, anti tamper legislation, 2 year mots (i know i know we havent got them...yet.), the ban on aromatic oils in tyres, the NEDC, the IVA.......
although leaving the European union probably wouldnt make a whole lot of difference and a lot of these things would have just been a matter of time anyway. I'm yet to be convinced that leaving the eu would be of great benefit. the ins and outs of it are far to complicated.

Thats right, the EU is defo to blame for the price of UK petrol give me strength I know! The UK population has been subject to so much anti-EU propaganda for so long that many people actually do believe it is responsible for just about everything bad that has ever happened. I gave up trying to put a more balanced view long ago; I have no hope against the Sun and the Express and many people become very angry if they are challenged. David

There is some truth in this though, particularly for the US. Anyway, I'm off to look at some more fine cars! David

the ban on aromatic oils in tyres, the IVA....... The IVA is nowt at all to do with europe, its a UK-only thing which is much admired by car enthusiasts on the continent who have no means whatsoever of legitimately registering 'home-made' cars. As for the banning of aromatic oils in tyres, admittedly I had forgotten just how hopping mad i am about this blatant curtailment of my BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS

yes but the iva as it stands now has an awful lot of rules in it aimed at bringing the sva inline with European type approval. see rules like the E mark on glass and the equivalent British standard not being good enough. indeed we only have the iva in the uk, but it is two fingers to Brussels who would much rather we were like the germans and were just banned from doing it. thankfully we have people like ace who are willing to wade thorugh this legislation and make it workable. see this: www.interregs.com/spotlight.php?id=103"The new technical requirements for European IVA are based on the technical requirements for full European whole vehicle type approval" (admitted not the best link, but all I could find without a big search.) (and I'm still not saying europe is a bad thing and we should leave, just that they are a pain in the at times.) edit - lots more on it on the ACE website www.the-ace.org.uk/loss-of-sva-update.html?searched=biva&highlight=ajaxSearch_highlight+ajaxSearch_highlight1

trouble with europe is it costs £180+bn per year to the UK to be involved in it, the money gets shared around, approx 2/3 gets returned back to the UK in EU grants etc - the other third goes to the countries that are lacking and are propped up by the EU.
id rather my cost of living was lower. i don't live in europe i live in sussex. i don't care right now what the hells going on else where I'm struggling to be honest. id rather my tax costs were less.
theres loads of problems in this country and the EU relieving us of money doesnt help imo.

If you work for a company which exports then you should thank the govt for us being in the EU.
I got my first job through European Social Fund programme as have thousands of others.
There's a ton if benefits and depending where you are sitting depends on whether you are on the win or lose side of the equation.

The British Government published figures list a net UK contribution to the EU budget of less than £4 billion for 2009. (Page 9 of the Parliamentary briefing paper.) www.parliament.uk/briefing-papers/SN00864www.parliament.uk/briefing-papers/SN00864.pdfEven the Euro-sceptic “Open Europe” organisation calculate the figure at £57 billion for the period 2007-2013 – or £9.5 billion per annum, a figure widely contested. To put Alistairk’s comment into context, the MOD spent about the same on its EU contribution in 2009 as it did developing this, a plane it cancelled in October 2010. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12297139Anyway, I have strayed off topic because the EU has nothing to do with the price of petrol in the UK, and yes, I wish it was cheaper! Thats right, the EU is defo to blame for the price of UK petrol give me strength Just because you don't understand does not mean it's not true. I mean I have no idea how chemotherapy works but does not mean I'm going to poo poo it. If you work for a company which exports then you should thank the govt for us being in the EU. I got my first job through European Social Fund programme as have thousands of others. There's a ton if benefits and depending where you are sitting depends on whether you are on the win or lose side of the equation. Oh yeah, because what you're doing wouldn't be done if it was not for the EU? ...and if it's genuinely 'no' then it is probably a waste of time and money. trouble with europe is it costs £180+bn per year to the UK to be involved in it, the money gets shared around, approx 2/3 gets returned back to the UK in EU grants etc - the other third goes to the countries that are lacking and are propped up by the EU. id rather my cost of living was lower. Take the tax off the petrol. Easy. Petrol also has VAT on it. VAT also goes to the EU. Probably won't believe that either, but if you look it up you'll see. trouble with europe is it costs £180+bn per year to the UK to be involved in it, the money gets shared around, approx 2/3 gets returned back to the UK in EU grants etc - the other third goes to the countries that are lacking and are propped up by the EU. id rather my cost of living was lower. David Yes it does, as explained above. The trouble with quoting the net figure is that it does not account for the fact that money we 'get back' has to be spent on pro-eu projects and approved causes. Everything we get back is wasted and not spent on things we know would be beneficial to us. The contributions are also going up. Then there are the compliance costs which are obviously far higher than the contributions but difficult to calculate. For all the 'good' the EU supposedly does is more than compensated for by the bad. The same 'good' could be achieved without having to allow the EU to being trying to harmonise the entire contintent. If the EU is so fantastic for trade then ask a few simple questions. Why wouldn't we be able to trade with the EU the same as Norway and Switzerland and all the other countries in the rest of the world? If being in the EU is so much of an advantage then that must mean someone else has to lose out. So who is going to want to trade with the EU if it is going to bully people into unfavourable deals? It is unnecessary, expensive, anti-democratic, I find it offensive and Europe will be ruined when they've finished. And I didn't even mention the Euro. There are still a few people who have not realised the truth yet and still believe everything the self-interested government departments are always telling us.

I vote with the £s in my pocket - I fill up to the top with the cheapest petrol I can get, usually Morrison's when we do the shopping. If I see a cheap petrol station, and I know because I look at the price on every petrol station I pass, and I've got half a tank or less, I'll fill up there...
