Just because you don't understand does not mean it's not true. I mean I have no idea how chemotherapy works but does not mean I'm going to poo poo it.

If you work for a company which exports then you should thank the govt for us being in the EU.
I got my first job through European Social Fund programme as have thousands of others.
There's a ton if benefits and depending where you are sitting depends on whether you are on the win or lose side of the equation.
Oh yeah, because what you're doing wouldn't be done if it was not for the EU? ...and if it's genuinely 'no' then it is probably a waste of time and money.

trouble with europe is it costs £180+bn per year to the UK to be involved in it, the money gets shared around, approx 2/3 gets returned back to the UK in EU grants etc - the other third goes to the countries that are lacking and are propped up by the EU.
id rather my cost of living was lower. I don't live in europe I live in sussex. I don't care right now what the hells going on else where I'm struggling to be honest. id rather my tax costs were less.
theres loads of problems in this country and the EU relieving us of money doesnt help imo.
cheaper fuel ftw
Exactaly, cut the EU. Take the tax off the petrol. Easy. Petrol also has VAT on it. VAT also goes to the EU. Probably won't believe that either, but if you look it up you'll see.

I don’t recognise the figure of £180 billion net UK contribution per annum to the EU.
The British Government published figures list a net UK contribution to the EU budget of less than £4 billion for 2009. (Page 9 of the Parliamentary briefing paper.)
www.parliament.uk/briefing-papers/SN00864www.parliament.uk/briefing-papers/SN00864.pdfEven the Euro-sceptic “Open Europe” organisation calculate the figure at £57 billion for the period 2007-2013 – or £9.5 billion per annum, a figure widely contested.
To put Alistairk’s comment into context, the MOD spent about the same on its EU contribution in 2009 as it did developing this, a plane it cancelled in October 2010.

Anyway, I have strayed off topic because the EU has nothing to do with the price of petrol in the UK, and yes, I wish it was cheaper!
David
Yes it does, as explained above.
The trouble with quoting the net figure is that it does not account for the fact that money we 'get back' has to be spent on pro-eu projects and approved causes. Everything we get back is wasted and not spent on things we know would be beneficial to us.
The contributions are also going up. Then there are the compliance costs which are obviously far higher than the contributions but difficult to calculate.
For all the 'good' the EU supposedly does is more than compensated for by the bad. The same 'good' could be achieved without having to allow the EU to being trying to harmonise the entire contintent. If the EU is so fantastic for trade then ask a few simple questions. Why wouldn't we be able to trade with the EU the same as Norway and Switzerland and all the other countries in the rest of the world? If being in the EU is so much of an advantage then that must mean someone else has to lose out. So who is going to want to trade with the EU if it is going to bully people into unfavourable deals?
It is unnecessary, expensive, anti-democratic, I find it offensive and Europe will be ruined when they've finished.
And I didn't even mention the Euro.
There are still a few people who have not realised the truth yet and still believe everything the self-interested government departments are always telling us."
Surely nobody is as Kuriously Kentishly Kuntish as this? curse word off back to your pathetic 'political' meetings and leave the rest of us alone - NO forum should be subjected to this drivel.
