So what unexpected issues are your cars throwing up just before the gathering? I jumped into the Fiesta to go to work today and there is a something - that I think is probably the water pump - rattling under the bonnet like its going out of fashion. I have one day off before the gathering and had rather hoped to fix the stereo so that it actually plays something for more than 2 minutes, but it would seem this is a more pressing issue. So come on then... What has your beloved automobile done to make your life just a little but more awkward? Have some pictures:

The tracking is out on the Passat and has suddenly (as in it's been happening for some time but I've only just noticed) started eating one edge of the OS front tyre.. The Fiesta is still a tatty mess and despite me lubing it up, the throttle cable still sticks sometimes. I think it's frayed somewhere in the sheath. It'll snap soon enough

Heater matrix is leaking-I wondered why the drivers footwell keeps getting damp Oil & filter need changing, but knowing my luck, either the filter will be stuck solid or I'll pull the threads out of the sump! Still, I've got Saturday to sort things out..

Bald tyres, I went to a drift day on Saturday on borderline tyres. The plan was to take some good tyres with me in order to take full advantage of the free tyre changing. Unfortunately the tyre van broke down so I had to skid on the four tyres I took with me and drove home very carefully on my original tyres. Got it sorted today though ;D
And got a funny squeak coming from the front suspension, think it might be a partially dislocated spring. Going to have a serious look at it tomorrow!

My water pump gave up this week on my bmw. Had been rattling a little for a while now, but not thought that it would let go spectacularly.
Bearings completely collapsed, shredded aux belt, shattered pump pulley and obliterated the viscous fan. Replaced the mechanical bits and just wired up a new electric fan this evening with the help of LewisT123 to do away with the viscous unit.
Hoped it would run a lot quieter after the new parts but there's still a whine annoyingly. Not sure if it's pas pump or alternator.
This was time i'd set aside for getting a new set of wheels refurbed and mounted with associated arch fettling to suit.
Still, glad it didn't implode en route to Prescot.

Carb came loose on my 120y at the weekend. Luckily happened only minutes from home. Had a weird squeeking noise, thought it was the aux belt, but no it was air being sucked between carb and inlet manifold! Quick tighten of the nuts and all sorted. Amazed it ran at all with that much air being drawn in. Again, glad it didnt happen on way to RRG!
See you all there!

Mine is in the bodywork shop being sprayed, which is next door to my business unit. I came into work at the end of last week and thought I could smell petrol, and it was stronger when I stood at the party wall between the two units. Reminds me of the smell when I found that tiny pinhole leak on my fuel tank a few months ago that I repaired with leak-fix thinks I. Then all of a sudden it dawned on me. New fuel tank that I was going to replace over winter is now in, but to make matters worse I had to pay the bodyshop to do it as it was stuck in their workshop. But again, it could have happened on the way to Prescott....

Nothing too serious. My battery has decided not to hold a charge and Halfords are refusing to swap it under warranty. It's annoying because it means I might have to take my jump-pack with me. I'm currently giving it multiple trickle charges in the hope that it might kick some life into it.

I cannot - for the love of all chippendales - get the paint not to react. I have no 'barcoat' or similar left and it looks sh*te..... Windscreen NEW rubber seal is wrong - possibly have another spare so need to find that.... Trailer is locked in mates garage - he's away and keyholder is AWOL (MAJOR prob there as I need to haul the Trump... ) I'm now with a clutch though - and brakes (I think ;D) If I can get the screen in - I can drive it instead and book MoT other side of ferry port (not really officer - I'll be good )

Mine just needs the paint cutting back to a sheen again, and just found the plug in no 1 had the little screw cap thing missing and the leads really rusty so not too bad I suppose.
