you need a slide hammer to take the halfshafts out, they can be stuck pretty good after all those years

it is force-fitted into the splines? just? surprising because the wheel could also be from a hard driving it will be hard to get out the hammer, it moves at all and I am afraid to break is what it was when you did your Toyota? I imagine a lot of penetrating oil? turnover has broken?

that's what i've used to take my halfshafts out. They sit in the axle and the bearings can be stuck in the housing as well as the splines in the diff. If you have removed the 4 nuts which hold the axle in place (through the hole in the flange) then it should come out with the slide hammer. They can be quite stuck, but they are thick and sturdy, so you won't break them easily! Just use the right tools for the job and you'll be allright!
