got my hands on some 17x7 MO5's for the cortina they will fit on but I'm not after it for looks alone I'm planning on building a decent specced drift car so need plenty of room for the car to go lower whilst retaining as much steering angle as possible. does anyone have experience of pulling MK5 arches out and or trimming them I might consider taking the whole arch lip off and flaring them quite a bit if its possible, apparently there were a few slammed examples on the scene from germany anyone got some pics ?

on the front you could use P100 wings they have a larger arch radius but excpect to pay £50 pluss for a SH pair .

not much room at the back where the door shut is, its a bit cramped there although you could massage the rear of the arch and maybe fit longer suspension links and and a spacer in the prop to move the axle back an inch or so.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

I heard about the p100 wings bortaf but cant find any so I'm considering bolt on arch extensions so I can chop a fair bit away and go wider. On the rear arch side of things I'm thinking of welding the back doors shut then cutting a decent amount out of the arches obviously adding arches like the front. Last and most extreme thought I'm having is a two door conversion then grafting on some type of steel arches, this car is going to be a long term project if I go down this route so I'm looking at all my options I'm not listening to the curse word that say spending money on a MK5 cortina is a waste anymore.

£50 sounds ok but the other bloke was sucking on a certain kind of pipe I reckon,i asked for px deal's with someone on my tina for an XR4I but not much joy so I'm looking for as many new panels as I can get for mine floors inner and outer sills front and rear valance everything really I might even go as far as sourcing chassis rails or having them made if I'm going to be keeping it i want it done right and to the pln i have in my head no corners cut.

If your doing all that work and spending all that money AND thinking about converting it to two door its probably sensible to hunt around for an original two door for sale.

Tried that already mate the people that have them are ether not selling or want silly money for almost dead examples,if i could find a two door at the right price i would put the deposit down in seconds :-(

You'll need a clutch pedal and brake or change the whole pedal box, best to fit a MK3/4 pedal and cable, you need to drill the bulkhead for the clutch cable and weld a support tube in the for cable as well. The crank will need a spigot bearing fitting and you'll obv need a manual flywheel, clutch and flywheel bolts, do NOT use the auto ones they are too long and will bottom out in the crank, if you fitting a 5 speed the trans tunnel will need cutting where the old auto stick bolted in as the hole is slightly further back compaired to the manual tunnel. Starter and starter cable (or shorten the auto one you already have), you'll need to either remove the inhibito switch or as I do leave it in but connect it to a hidden switch to act as an imobiliser and the reverve light wiring will need altering. Also if fitting a 5 speed you 'll need to use a manual prop as the auto one is longer and the bolts for the doughnit will hit on the tailhousing. New speedo cable, type 9 dust plate, I think that's about it, bound to have forgotten something, i'll add it here if I remember anything
