My new year resolution as of last Thursday is to spend every Saturday sorting my cars out. She didn't take much convincing either, as long as I promised to get stuff done. So today I have picked up the axle for my hotrod and dropped off the block for my Anglia for some machining. Then on my return I did some (actually quite a lot of) welding on a mate's Midget and we pulled the redundant engine and box out of my Anglia. He then presented me with a rear bumper for the Anglia and some louvred hood sides which will go on my T, both from KFW and relayed through Will The weather has been fine, I have a welder's tan, no fingertips and I've played some top tunes on my iPod converted radio. I even partly tidied the garage Anyone else had a productive day? Tell me your stories

Nope. Been waiting the whole day for the stormy weather to calm down... But no luck. So no welding possible today.
But I considered clearing the work bench & spare parts dump. And dragging out the spare engine for the Mini.
But then I flicked through RR for hours and bought a magazine instead ;D

Well while trying to clean the airfilter on the Harley I managed to strip two out of three threads on the throttle body So now got to drill out, tap and helicoil them. So a very un-productive day, managed to go backwards and make more work :-( That's a curse word.

I had a leisurely yet productive day. Every evening for the last week, I've been slowly refurbing all the brake components for my '62 Bluebird. Today, I spent the day re-installing it all and hooking all the brakes back up ready for bleeding and adjusting tomorrow. On most cars this wouldn't be any big deal, but there's zero parts availability for the Bluebird which means I had to machine and hone the btrake cylinders, then fit pistons and seals etc sourced from whatever I could find to fit... later Nissan (Cabstar I think) for the rear and Daihatsu Charade for the front plus Rover P5 brake hoses all round. Got the shoes re-lined a while ago so they were all raedy to go in. I blasted and machined all the drums today too. If it all goes to plan tomorrow then it's in for MOT on Monday and after I get the registration sorted it'll be on the road again for the first time in nearly 38 years!

yep removed the injection system (again ) from the van that I had wasted a day fitting and trying to get going refitted the carb back on the old RPM manifold but i will be getting the efi manifold modified so it can be used with a carb or throttle body that way i don't have to keep changing the manifold over every time i try getting the injection to work oh and I finished fitting the gearbox so the van is now back up and running and driving as it should ;D didn't get any pics of the new (old)setup back on the car but i'll get some tomorrow hopefully tomorrow will be just as productive I have an engine to fit back in a chevette

Partially took injector apart and cleaned and reassembled, cleaned throttle body and got rid of most of idling problem (carb cleaner stinks).
Put rest of car back together
Hopefully diagnosed a dodgy throttle sensor.
Sanded and primed an arch.
Removed bump strips (plastic spatula FTW).
Doesn't seem much but seemed to take me all day :-)

I was supposed to be fitting a new rad in my Transit but the rad supplier let me down so will have to chase them up on Monday. At a loose end I took the heater out of my Rickman and fitted a new matrix ready for next winter.Too soon? I'm half way through re-fitting it but after spending an hour or two upside down in the driver's side footwell I had had enough and called it a day. I've done nothing on the Anglia although I really should.Maybe next weekend.

I spent the day at a really good car show at Powderham Castle in Devon, where I saw some cars that I'd never seen in the metal before, including a Renault 15 and an Autozam AZ-1. I also broke my camera, so I have no photos to show for it

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Spent about 6 hours hand sanding and machine polishing, getting the hang of how to get a decent finish. Also went on a hour long walk to pick up some rollers so I could get some final thinner coats on the paint ready for flatting back and more polishing tomorrow providing I don't still ache.
I've made an agreement with myself to do at least an hour's work on the car every day the weather is nice in the hope that he'll be mostly shiny when he goes away to be fixed in a week or two.

I was working all day but did a bit of "blending" on the Ka when I got home. Basically it involves making a car look as un-noticeable as possible. I used to do it for a lot of people. No 2nd glances is the key.
