Guys,
I need to replace an exhaust manifold gasket on my 26 year old Merc.
Any advice how to remove the nuts off the studs without breaking anything?
I assume it’s best to warm the manifold up by running the engine first and squirt WD40 on the nuts and studs to keep things moving.
Any other tips?

my advice would be to use a propper penetrating oil regularly for a few days (assuming you have that kind of time) before trying to undo.... also, have a plan 'b' for if they do snap....
Plus gas or something that is propper penetrating oil is way, way superior to wd40.....

As per the above. A few days of penetrating oil is essential really.
On my 2CV, the nuts were rusty so I ended up smacking a slightly-too-small socket on, which did the trick. Try not to just wallop loads of twisting force on straight away, as you don't really want a snapped stud. That does become a pain in the proverbial.

Stock up with a few cheap sets of these I also think it's better to heat the bolts than to run the car. At least you'll save yourself alot of burnmarks on your hands I've also heard people melting candle wax between the nut and bolt, not tried it myself though.

The car is in daily use. Can I spray on PlusGas and keep using the car?

Spray it on at the end of the day when it's cooled a little, squirt a bit more now & then during the eve, let it sit overnight. May niff a bit in the morning as it burns off...
Worth wirebrushing the threads/nut if you can get to them, less clag for the oil to fight with.
Apart from that I find it best to try and sharply crack things off, without being too much of an animal, rather than slowly heave on them. Also going back and forth a bit helps if they're reluctant.
