I am looking forward to it sitting on coilovers . What coilovers did you go with in the end? It does look refreshingly different for a 924, especially with those wheels. If anything, such threads are giving ideas for what one could do to a 928 with wide wheels and lows but that would be crazy talk .

I ordered some JOM coilovers. These are fitting Golf 1, Golf 2 and the Sciroccos. They're not very expensive, but I wanna keep it on a small budget for now. These are advertised to lower a Golf 1 up to 85 mm. So that's about the right height than. If I'd lose the camber plates, I could have the 924 almost frame laying, I guess. Hope to have the stuff here next weekend. Can't wait to get on with the car.

Today I was messing around a little. The driver's side plastic housing is broken, a good reason to test my idea. Still needs some improvement but this is gonna look great in the end. Oh, and I cut 2 coils off the original springs. It's teasing, I know, but I think the new shocks are too long. The spring was quite loose while mounting everything and it's still not really low. KAW is gonna answer me tomorrow I guess. Patience is definitely not my cup of tea. Like this idea for your lights, nice personal touch!

Think those rims look lovely on your porker. I'd like to try them on my e21 as they're a bit different to the usual rims folk fit on them. Love all the detail changes. I'm doing the same sort of thing with my own build. Great work fella.

Thanks for the kind words. The wheels are quite hard to find with these extreme dimensions. Since I've got to deal with the old Audi PCD, the possibilities for different wheels are quite limited and the wide arches really need some serious fitment. The wheels will be repainted when it gets a little warmer outside, my workshop is not heated. Maybe it'll look a little odd before I repaint the car, but I need to see some progress in the next couple of weeks.

Nice.
So the mk1 golf coilovers were a straight fit? I find things like that fascinating. Presumably when designed in the factory they designed to use parts already available. (Whichever came first ?)

...And just like that this became my new favourite retro ride! ;D I'm blushing. Thanks. Nice. So the mk1 golf coilovers were a straight fit? I find things like that fascinating. Presumably when designed in the factory they designed to use parts already available. (Whichever came first ?) Thank you. The coilovers are kind of straight fit. It really depends on the quality you're buying. My test set up fitted a little better, the coilovers fit as well, but since I went for some budget coilovers for now, I'm not really amazed by the quality. Still there are some details, I could change for even less ride height. But I'm already amazed how it sits right now. Can't wait for the first test drive.

Ooooh, now that is something. What's clearance like? I'd like to see a full side profile with the front bumper on before making a judgement but from what I can see, very very promising

The rear still needs to go lower, before I can show you a proper side shot. Which is easier because there are just torsion bars. Clearance? I think it should work on most streets. But I liked the fact, the car jack went hardly under the side skirts.

The center bore of Ford wheels doesn't fit. But there are some possibilities with this pcd. Maybe I'll surprise you guys.
