I found that what car I drove made a very big difference to the level of agression directed at me.
Years ago I had a 903cc FIAT Panda. (waxes lyrical and misty eyed)FIAT make great small cars, shame about the bits that break...(/wlame). I replaced it with a Freight Rover Sherpa Combi. My driving style didnt change, nor did my routes, but I got a lot less tw@tting about from the eejits. I replaced that with my Golf Mk1 and never had the level of agression I had in the Panda.
Could it have been because the Panda was a "girlie" car? A car that BMWtw@t couldnt bear to see being driven in a non-girlie manner? Perhaps. I could certainly get away with all sorts in the Golf without hassle.

I found I used to get a lot more hassle in a Mk3 Fez than in the Mini or the Skoda, though boy racers seeing a girl driving a rapid did used to confuse them somewhat. I was frequently tempted to blip my brakes but after driving with my mum and witnessing her tailgaiting and stomping on the brakes saying ' I don't care if I dent this, it'll cost them more to repair their xxxx' I realised how downright scary that attitude was. Britain has lost it's patience and I don't want to push it further to Mad Max levels. You will never teach ' that idiot in the Mondeo/ Corsa/ whatever' anything by braking hard, slowing down and speeding up or getting out to threaten to plant them. You have to just take a deep breath and get over it, let them past, pull over if need be. Road rage helps no-one. People who don't indicate pee me off but I've tried to be tolerant, maybe their indicators didn't work, maybe they just forgot, we've all done it, we're all human, so don't decide that you're the one to educate the world, just lead by example and maybe it'll show a few people how to drive. It's like letting people out at junctions, I like to think it might make their journey just a little bit better, then maybe some jerk tailgaiting them won't wind them up too badly and cause them to do something stupid. I know I sound self-righteous and I don't mean to, I just think everyone has to do their bit. People do stupid stuff- last week I went right at a roundabout in the right turn lane, biker comes round me in the left hand lane and comes all the way to the right turn, for some reason I pulled into the outside lane as I left the roundabout, if I hadn't I would have wiped him off his bike, I turned to look to see if it was clear to move across and see this biker riding alongside me looking at me, I put my hands up to say 'what the hell are you doing?' and just backed off to let him in front so I could move over. It was an unbelievebly stupid thing for him to do but he did it and thankfully I did't mash him, just made me think that you have to be observant and look out for idiots, as much to prevent you killing them as them killing you. I love driving, it's my favourite thing to, ideally I'd just like to have empty roads, but until I'm mega rich it ain't gonna happen, so I just have to put up with the plebs and don't let it ruin my day. One day retro drivers will be the most respected drivers in the world and will be a shining example to others, everyone will aspire to us, even those with not so cool taste in cars Waffle done.
