The search for interesting but unloved cars is always on and I've been noticing Citroen C5 wagons lately...I think it's those caddy-esque upright lights. Which leads me to a question...does anyone know if you can make the adjustable suspension more, er...adjustable. It has the ability to raise and lower apparently and may even involve some sort of computer trickery but could you override it and choose where it sits? I'm thinking this: (photoshop) wouldn't make such a bad daily.

I've no idea about ajustability, if its computer controlled you'll probably be stuck unless you could hack into it and change the parameters. Chop looks good, but why would you want BBS wheels when some of them come with an awesome set of 17" steelies as standard, perfect for banding.

It's computer controlled. You can, on older HP systems (CX, XM etc.), adjust the positioning of the height correctors but you'll muck up the ride quality - I dare say SOME trickery is possible in the same way as properly lowering an MGF/Metro - by changing the length of the linkage between suspension and arms.
Isn't this a bit new though?

I wonder where it gets it's ride height measurement from? If it's from a non-suspension part (sill to ground) then it would adjust itself for any lowering you did, but if not you might be able to do (as you say) the MGF/Metro trick...if you could find out where to take the height from.

Randomly cut wires until the car falls to the ground, then put a potentiometer on that wire, done! ;D If you're more into metal modification than electricery, you could try this. I found it in a sealed envelope marked "top secret" at the local citroen workshop. The same workshop might have electric schemes revealing which wire to put a potentiometer on. An added bonus will be cool spheres through the bonnet! Edit- apparently they've made a faulty blueprint, i'm sure the upper part where the strut and sphere is connected is attached to the car, as a conventional mcpherson strut... So instead of cutting the shown part, cut the strut loose at the top, and add a few random metal pieces ala the hilmerson manta

It's not McPherson strut. It's double wishbone. Also not seeing any Retro here.... ......that's better.

I meant the fact the upper part of the damper/spring/hydraulic thingy is attached to the car, and not to a part of the subframe. I somehow got the idea that the parts i marked "cut here" were a part of the subframe. Obviously i noticed my mistake 3 seconds after posting the picture..

Also not seeing any Retro here.... Everything has potential. ..wouldn't be allowed in the showground at RRG though.. However, I think this is a top idea and would like to see it done

The double wishbone photos posted show a post 2007 C5, the earlier ones were McPherson strut based.
The comments about base models having conventional springs also only applies to the post 2007 models.
You can get early 3.0 V6 C5s for next to nothing now, they're very good cars.

My dad has one, a good mile muncher but its a little softly sprung for my liking. However it is a French saloon, its not going to be stiff.
