I've always wanted an MX5 ever since I was 18 and that was a few years ago. I managed to keep the desire at bay until members on here tempted me again, but I struggled on. It was too similar to my MGB so no need said I. Then I swapped the MGB for a Tiger kit car. Which I sold on Sunday. I gave the bulk of the money to the wife in a "thanks for putting up with me and bearing two children" manner and kept the change in my wallet. Then a few more MX5 popped up on here. And the sun came out, and a local seller took an offer on this..... So I've managed to be project car free for a total of 4 days. Wow what willpower! It's a 1.6 import, looks pretty solid except for a repair on one sill. The bodywork is still red and the hood is mostly waterproof. It does suffer an intermittent lack of power which I'll need to attend to, but at the price I can stick a new engine in if needed. The previous owner replaced AFM and coil pack, so next step is temp sensor on block, and try and read the fault codes. It's MOTd and Taxed until September, after that depending on what it needs for the MOT it will either be kept or possibly be broken for parts so I can build an Exocet.

Yay! Any MX-5 is a good MX-5, and that's a solid gold fact.

Cool little motors, lots of retro charm. I'm tempted myself, but we have a 2007 NC (sorry for non-retro content). I'm 6ft and a wee bit, size 10s and I'm comfortable. But, yeah, cars have got bigger over time. NA : cool and retro NB : not cool (doesn't cut it for me in any regard) NC : cool, but not retro (yet ) BTW I did LOL at your short period of non-project-car-ness ;D

Diabolu is 6'5" and he fitted fine in an MX5 and is looking to buy one. Honestly, I really don't know why people feel the need to say they don't fit in cars once they get over 6'
Popuptoaster has stated that L300's are not built for tall people (people over 6'5") but Dibolu loved driving mine. So did Morgs.....who is 6'11"
Don't dismiss an MX5 just because you think you're tall at 6'2". It's not exactly as if you're extreme in your height!

Suppose it depends on your choice of footwear too, as i cant drive alot of cars when i have my Vans shoes on, but i can drive most of them when i have my worn out trainers on ;D

I'll slam the seat on the floor when I have one anyway Even more space then!

I've got size 10 feet, they're wider than average for a size 10, and I wear nothing but skate shoes, which are pretty wide as shoes go, and I've got loads of room in the MX-5, in fact for a small sports car I wouldn't want them any further apart, a bit of heal-toe is all part of the fun. Diabolu is 6'5" and he fitted fine in an MX5 and is looking to buy one. Honestly, I really don't know why people feel the need to say they don't fit in cars once they get over 6' Sometimes it might just be because it's true? I'm only (never really phrased it as 'only' lol) 6 feet tall and size 9 feet, and there are quite a few cars I can't get comfortable in or don't have enough headroom for me. 25% of cars I drive I end up with sore ankles because the seat doesn't retract far enough for my long legs. That is evident but not too severe for me in an MX5, moreso in other stuff. So probably a bit unjustified to say it about an MX5, they're not roomy but they're not awkward either. Thjere are occasions when tall people don't fit into cars though - and I'm generally not talking about superminis either.

Iv just sorted a Seicento Sporting (Y reg so not retro) and i can fit into thats ok.....right arm room is a bit tight....but then again same with landrover defenders......got plenty of leg room and should be ok for a laugh.....but when i tried sitting in a MX-5 there was no chance......i felt like Edd China!!!

Well I guess I best take my fair share of the blame as its my fault that Bruce got the MX5 bug They are surprisingly big inside, I'm 6ft, 18st and have size 11 feet and I had no bother, and if your a bit taller in the back then you can always reduce the amount of foam in seat base to drop you down a couple of inches further.

People are just built differently, long legs, long body, long legs and big belly (like me)
I've always like mx5's but have always assumed I'd need a large tub of Vaseline and a crow bar to get me in one!
I've oftern fancied a smart car as a daily, can fit in them fine and quite comfy......as long as I don't want to shut the door lol.

To anyone thinking about it but worried they are too long... just get it done!!
