Well ladies and gents today I put a deposit on my first car *drum roll* a 1996 Fiat Cinquecento Sporting, comes with a few bits n bobs but the real question is, are they Retro yet and will it be welcome on the R-R stand at CARS? Probably wont be outside my house until next week some time so pictures will come when I can get 'em!

I have a bit of a soft spot for them for some reason. Sure it'll be fine once it has a few smacks of the stick.

I'll keep that in mind skodastop, already got a Spax kit all round so its not flying high. Got a full Powerflow system and K&N induction so it makes a decent noise for a little car. Cant wait!

i think they're retro.... not many of them about compared to more run-of-the-mill hot hatches, and they've got that slight italian "Yeah, what?" feel to them keep it all standard! don't wanna see any tintz, rimz or badboy bonnetz on it - that alone is enough to make it stand out! slammage and maybe a subtle hide-away exhaust is fine though.

We've still got my brothers 96 one parked at home, 80,000 ,rarely got serviced, thrashed all the time, 99% reliable( lambda probe) . Engine/Gearbox mountings are a a bit weak. They were the Fiat 127 Sport of the 90s

Oh nearly forgot, make sure the earth cables are tight or you'll fry the ECU, and get the master key (red/brown) with it

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

We've got a yellow one. Fun car! Interesting what you are saying about the Lambda senser, as it started feeling a little 'rough' yesterday - kinda surging and it has always been a bit hesitant when cold. Perhaps its in need of replacement.

I like 'em! Like a little go-kart. What colour is it? No, lemme guess..... yellow? They're always yellow. ;D Some nice dished 13in alloys would go well on them I reckon. Update with pics won't ya?!

is it a actualy a sporting? i didnt read anywhere that it was unless i mssed it (probably) tuning parts are soooo cheap in comparision. there is also a company that fits turbochargers to them for 100bhp - 145bhp if i remember right. thats not quite so cheap lol check out www.gazzella.cc/ for an idea of parts and costs.

Those little Fiats are COOL. I love 'em! A guy I used to live near in Bury St Edmunds had a couple, one of which was a stripped out track-day car, the other one he'd rallied a few times! Should be excellent fun as a first car.

I’m not a massive fan, they look a bit too much like a fuggin training shoe for my tastes.
I can imagine they're good fun to punt round though.
