1975 was a good year! It's sister, the Audi 50, was released in the dark ages of 74 though!

1975 as well over here... The mid to late 1970s were dark days for cars in the USA. The best selling car in America in 1975 was the full-sized Chevrolet Impala/Caprice. It was also the first year for the BMW 5 series in America, we got it as the 530i, horribly smog choked with these things called thermal reactors. They got 10mpg city, 15 highway and took 10 seconds to hit 60. People started buying these funny little Japanese cars... And AMC was selling these fishbowl looking things

Wow at the girder on the front of that BMW, that's quite possibly the biggest US spec bumper I've ever seen on a European car. Suppose it makes a good picnic bench. Happy birthday to the OP! So what was in for 1981, I wonder? Not off to a great start with the Austin Ambassador, doesn't have the charm of its predecessor. Renault gave us the R9, which is at least a slightly better looking thing, got to be thin on the ground now though. However, it was awarded Car of the Year. VW released the first Mk2 Polos, I'm in favour of this, obviously. Edited to add: DVLA says this one has been unlicensed since January 2001, perhaps it's still around somewhere, waiting to be found? From the same stables, the Audi Quattro made an appearance in the UK, though it had been around in Germany for a year already. While Japan gave the world the first of the Honda Accords, which have come a long way since then.

As usual i got it wrong lol,too much wine....sorry Heres my corrected repost.... In June 1979 the Leone saw its first complete model update. This generation was released with a two-door hardtop coupe, four-door sedan, station wagon and a three-door hatchback. The United States did not see this generation until 1980
