OMG, cleverly (i hope) I won a decent wing on ebay for the MR2 after patching the inners up. I have now been offered a virtally mint shell 125 miles away, at the mo i don't know whats left on it, but no way it'd be done by CaRS surely! My panels for rear sections are still in the post! What to do? my heads fried!

Until this i had light at the end of the tunnel, panels in post, newly won wing, newly repaired inner now this.
Pondering if i can get storage and some one to pick it up cheap to get it for the rebuild, in the future. i was only gonna run it to see how it goes, and plan on a rebuild with custom bits and a paint job.
rust pics coming up....

Do the shell thing. Fixing up your old one, you'll never get all the rot out totally. A nice minty shell and you can do a bang up pukka job and never have to worry about the tin worm again.

Go for it if you can. I LOVE mk1 mr2's but the rot and my lack of ability really puts me off buying one

You are right, if you start unwelded its a good starting point.will have to scrutinise it if i go. I'm failing to believe any really do have no rust! Not exactly flush at the moment but it would make a good upgrade in a year or so so must be investigated...

Sounds good! Will certainly speed up the project! Where abouts in Lincolnshire is it? If my Mongtego wasn't sulking in my garage you could have stashed it in there until you sorted something out

Arggghhh, thanks for the generous, virtual offer. I'd store it anywhere! Basically my dads a pain, i'm set to weld in these panels with him and try MOT. Might well pass once thats done. If i mention new shell he'll go mad and start preeching! went mad when i mentioned arch mods! So same plan cos i want it out of the way and summer fun, run for a year, release the Sierra for CaRS 2007 then MR2 reanimation part two in my garage. Plan or what? Easy-not!

What about future hassle? Where in Lincs is the shell? Hassle from the Pa? Well as soon as its MOT'd its going home via CaRS, outta the way for good. so thats why i'll be storing the shell elswhere till i'm ready and why i'm so keen to get a ticket on it. Rust doesnt sound bad but not 'perfect' Its in

If I did not just park the JCB on our new turf you could of used that till your ready mate. But still your repairs are looking good.

I meant it's best to have the shell to avoid rust hassle. My Dad works in Boston at ET Commercials a truck place, if they could hide the shell behind a truck I'd ask him to keep it, there was half a mini there for years until we brought it home

Cheers that may well be an helpful idea/option, worst case i could always pass it on in the future. leaving it in lincs for now would help £ matters, gonna ring a bloke about a garage but money wise i shouldn't even be considering it! But I am! It did look like this: me or the crusher!

Would you have 'painting issues' for the doors, bonnet etc?
Thats more grief than doing the welding surely.
