I really want a big coachbuilt camper at the mo! I've always had vw van campers but it's time for something bigger, and these bigguns seem like luxury. Plus they can be cool, right? I think? Or am I way off the mark here? Anyone got one? Any pics, suggestions, ideas? Cheers! ;D

I'm with you on this one ;D I did have a picture of a big VW with a big caravan body fitted to the back but I can't find it at the mo. Have some little VWs with similar treatment. A very cool, if austerely painted, little Austin J2. There's a Fiat Ducato very similar to this one not far from where I live, used regularly too. Urvan? Don't really know anything more, but it looks great.

One of the serious motorkhana competitors in SA drives a nice Mk1 transit camper in this style, towing his Honda Civic motorkhana car on a trailer. Very cool setup, although I don't have a picture.

Defo cool. But I am biased, here is mine with a 'scruffy' Veedub up a mountain in Greece. It's a 208D with a turbo conversion. Painfully slow, no power steering and thirsty (just like a VW). But I love it, dead reliable, hot and cold running water, toilet, shower etc. Ms Generallee and I recently returned from a 22000 mile, 11 month road trip in him. As much cool as you get with a type 2, I wouldn't fancy living in one.

Those Karmann Gypolata's are dead coool . But the price tags are shocking!! Scene tax, man, it's a killer. Everything on this thread is full of win! I love these retro coachbuilts, there's something seriously hillbilly about them, and the more hillbilly the better -

yes they are practical . . some might even look ok . . but cool? . . I prefer the "stock" body of a van . . even if it has less space . . .
