Are you sure that isn't what your license allows you to tow. it will depend when you pass your test. 1997 or later could mean 750kgs max towing weight.
It could also be that the hire company do not want the van used for anything bigger. My RWD Transit tows 2000kgs legally.

The weight being towed should not weigh anymore than the towing vehicle although the recommendation is that the the trailer should be no more than 85% of the tow vehicle weight.
As said above, you really need a 4x4 or van that weighs 2 tonne to be safe.

Sam,
Although I cannot help with making the Corona roadworthy, I will happily trailer anywhere it needs to go if it helps. Please let me know if I can help in anyway before or after the funeral.

I only ever met Si once when I delivered the Datsun 180 estate to him. Up until I arrived at his house I was unaware of his history with cars. I spent ages being shown around his cars and was gobsmacked at the standard of the cars on his driveway.
I arrived at his house that day with what I thought was a car destined to be tidied up a bit. I left knowing that great things would be happening to it and was looking forward to seeing the results.
My sincerest condolences go out to Si's family and friends from all here.

Hello all,
Sometime later this week I have a car to deliver to Blandford Forum in Dorset.
I will be returning with the van and trailer empty so can offer cheap rate for anything heading north. Can go anywhere but ideally midlands area.
Can carry anything up to transit size (2200kgs max).

Just found you PM from before. I had forgot about it so apologies.
I have been up to Scotland many times but nothing planned soon although something could come in any day. I could do you a price for your job if needed. the more time before job needs doing, means I can look for something to go the other way and therefore split the cost.
