New purchase arrived today. a 1991 Renault Midliner, surely a future classic truck. Basically the cheapest tilt and slide we could find, although it was in middlesborough!
anyway, ater an eventful journey it made it back and i finally got chance to look at it. looked great on ebay, and from about 50yards however cab is quite rotten.
Anyone know where i can get repair panels or worse case a breaker that might touch something a little older. so can get a replacement cab. i think they made them up to about 97

based or twinned with a Mack isn't it! similar to this? Last time I was in France there were loads around, these were all in the town we were staying in (called Bussang funnily enough!!) mechanicals are similar i'd hazard a guess! doesn't really help you out massively though, sorry edit: beaten too it by Retrowagen probably similar shape to his pic as well.

never signwrote too many older Renaults but rear of door cab looks like an FL, but FL doors have an oblong glass panel at front of door, different curve as well to match wings by the look of it
new Volvo cab is shared with Renault, probably a lot to do with owning Renault trucks, also with the DAF LF, front panels are different, doors same except for some/all Renaults having glass inserts on NS lower, not much use i know but knowledge is power ( not in my case unfortunately!)

The cab's known as a 'Club Of Four' cab, after the four manufacturers that used them (Renault/Saviem/Berliet, Volvo, Magirus-Deutz/Iveco and DAF). And yes, they rotted like fook.
You might be able to find a rust-free cab in mainland Europe, but by the time you've done that you may as well have bought a EuroCargo!!

really don't like euro cargos, well any modernish truck. should have realised the similarities to the fl6.
i'm not overly concerned about the rot, its still perectly useable just looks a bit of a shed. got a little bit of time whilst i sort out a licence for it anyway.
put it on a weighbridge and it may need a diet, either that or d downrating. 5,080kg

quite a few of those still over here, the ESB (electricity company) had loads of them at one point then the ones that weren't scrapped got sold off, there's a guy i know of who might have a couple if you get really stuck, he's got some ex postal service and electricity trucks and vans etc in a yard, well last time i was there he did anyway.

they don't rot too bad out here. mostly they were sold under mack badging, with mack axles and mack 'camelback' rear suspension, with 'eaton' gearboxes. usually 13speed, or 'twin splitter' 12 speeds in them. the 12 speeds were fairly hard to negotiate, but pretty cool. 13 speeds, being fully non synchro, are pretty fun with the quaint gear linkage modification that were done to them :\ worst thing here is wiring on them, and electrolysis in the piston liners, and they don't take a liking to being thrashed by idiots it would seem. the rest sems fairly solid. we usually got the g330 ones. pretty slow around here with extra axles and a 4 axle trailer behind them loaded up with bulk fert as the one in the pic mostly carted, or livestock as the other 3 mainly did. dad used to run about 4 of them. best sounding trucks in his fleet with a straight pipe on them. few more pics of what they get up to over here in nz. slightly different bumpers on them, and a couple of early ones. we started getting them in 88 i think

yeah, the wiring is fun on them, I've still got my ex's '89 horsebox conversion and the wiring is all PINK with numbers on each core for identification but unfortunate the number wear off
mind you I think they drive nicer than cargo's of the same era, this one is the 130 version and would cruise at 60 fully loaded no problem, mind you since it was private use only it was tachometer exempt so may of occasionally ran a little faster.....

really don't like euro cargos, . +647,000,000. Try Furber's (Commercial) Breakers, Prees Heath, Shropshire (near Whitchurch) and it's possibly worth seeing if Alan Morgan Commercials, Loppington, Wem, Shropshire are atill going as they had a few kicking about a few yaers back I'm sure.
