1970’s Barford Bison, 4wd, 2T Dumper truck. Good general order ideal for self build, farm truck or just dickin about in. £850 ONO. Story to tell a significant other: This is a mid 70’s (there fore uber-retro) Barford Bison just like the Toy Corgi dumper truck. It is rumoured to have been owned by Queenie who used to be into dumper truck racing in a big way as it was one of the cheapest forms of motor sport around. This truck was used until the mid nineties when a string of bad pit stops fumbled by Phil the Greek meant a winning streak turned into losing the nationals. She was sorely affected by the season and famously commented that it was a horrible year, the press speculated that she was talking about other events but I can’t see it. At this point she pulled out and retired the dumper to more menial functions since then it served on light duties until I picked it up last year and after detuning the race engine and swapped from slicks to more useful tyres I have used it on a garage build and no longer need it / can handle being asked “If that was once owned by Queenie??” Due to the severity of ‘that’ season she will deny all ownership but she was often found practising up and down the long walk with her then corgis in the bucket hence the Childs model being produced. Slightly more factual Story: Mid 70’s Barford Bison; 4wd, 2T, Hydraulic Tip dumper truck. Used on a private estate for any thing you can use a dumper truck for. By the general wear and tear evident its had an easy life. At the end of its life on the estate early last year it was freshened up as a father son project which involved a partial strip, clean , re-grease change of fluids and a good tidy up. The motor is a Lister PH2 which starts when you have the knack 1st time and runs on diesel fumes. The Hydraulics are good and can easily tip a full bucket of concrete. Its 3 speed and reverse all gears select easily and can be selected from stand still. The foot brake works well on all 4 wheels and the trans brake will hold on inclines. The tyres are well worn with varying levels of tread and major cracking of the side walls. I was worried at first about this but they hold air and have dealt with 6 months of abuse with no issues. The bucket is in very good shape and has 2 drains 1” from the base so plug them to hold liquids or unplug and it will always be empty. Weight should be around 1.1T from the factory and after towing this I would say that’s probably about right. Dimensions are on the jpeg, it fitted on a car transporter and was towed with ease behind an A6. If close I could arrange delivery for diesel costs More photos here s380.photobucket.com/albums/oo241/gengis-khan/

BTDT you cant repair them its vario resistor board . Best bet is to try merlin diesel i replaced the top on my a6 2.5tdi about £250 3 years ago. Did you mark the pump lid before removal? If not you will sturggle to get it set properly (remember its located in 2 dimensions). Best bet will be to get a replacement 2nd hand unit.
Theres no coding on a 94 pump.
If you do replace the lid when starting make sure you can stop the engine as it can run with out the govner if replacd incorrectly like dieseling ( which is very scarry) try audifans and search under my name as i did a rebuld years ago wwith a write up.

I can imagine a heavily corroded pump failing from the out side in due to exposure but i have been inside a few and never ever seen internal corrosion except where the pump has been left for dead and then stripped. If you are making the effort to build a system you would go for the best parts you can get and assemble them in a safe manner if you cant get that right then how do you get the rest of the system right visual checks etc. The amount of HP system that use jubile clips i have seen at events is of concern. Was this pump that failed brand new when fitted? My boot install is fire walled but my lines are through the cabin (fittings are external). Not to drift to much any one used a facet on its side for any period with out problems? Got friend who runs a blue top in a new car to him and its on its side which some people say is ok some not any BTDT???

In my Saab 99 (which went from carb to injected) I made the set-up as pictured. Its pretty simple and very effective as i have just over 2L in the swirl pot (1L is the minimum to have based on the long sweeper at mallory). Just get some 3" tube and the right fittings. As shown i always add some relayed switches so you can prime and presurise with out the need to crank the engine. Also it worth adding a pre and post filter as the post filter acts as an added acumulator.

Bit more of a clear out. Check Photo bucket user 'gengis-Khan' for more pictures. Collection Preferred and can be arranged from Oxford, Swindon, Heathrow, Hereford areas by prior arrangment. I allso still have all the mags free to collector and a lot of curse word you can have a look through in the garages if collecting. Pair of used ( chase car and then road car) Red 6 Point Sabelt Ultralight Harnesses 3". As shown they have got a some holes in the 'Sabelt ' tags where the intercom was otherwise just a bit of dust / dirt which will brush of. Never crashed. As shown they are out of date for FIA sanctioned events but i do remeber talk that they had an extention for some MSA events through to 2015 but i can not confirm. They do make a hell of a differance at the end of a full day as you don't have the red marks all over your chest. £150 Genuine Bosch 580 254 979 pump. This has been on a test bed for 2 hrs ( 172L/Hr @ 5Bar). Came from a disolved WRC team spares package. Looking for £85 +P&P V old Willans 4 Point clips ( extenable to 5) 2" Used for about 1 year a long time ago. Never crashed found in a bag at the very back of the garage. £25 +P&P. Various car stereos The whole lot for a £10 Sony stacker and Clarion unit work others no idea.

Make sure you keep the water pump as its export only and they are a pain to find took me a few years to get one. They do come apart to the point where you can press the impeller of and remove the shaft. Try sidevalve owners club as there was a tech sheet for rebuilding them As for as Henry intended this has got a fair few additional touches which are period and very desirable. Very nice car indeed.
If you get no luck on SVOC then try the following for links 1950sspecials.co.uk (shamless plug as my car is on the TWM site).

The guy is a friend of my Brothers ( @ Seth he has the silver grey CX pickup you photographed).
loadrunners used to be TUV but not sure how many are made these days. But there is only the 1 fundamental change of extending the bed which is done using OE parts except for skins. All other parts are OE.
As for towing, comments around 'its a dream' negating the length of the overall unit.
There was an ex Paris Dakar Heli pad CX in the south of france for sale a couple of years ago ( Tissier) although it was only a rummour and it was a private sale so no idea what happened to it as that would be the ultimate toy ( Paris match motor).
