Vuskys tailgate lock fixed . It was getting tricky to open with loads of play on the handle before the lock turned . Turns out the tiny roll pin had given up and the square bar was wearing away , id already repaired this once decades ago. Anyway I had some brass bar exactly the right size so fitted this along with a new roll pin . Also threaded tother end with a 2BA tap so the bolt and washer could be fitted inside ,

Will you convert to 12v if you rewind it? I'm not going to rewind it if it can't handle extended running at 12V. That's a severe diseconomy; I'll just get a permanent magnet 12V motor, which are available new with a year's warranty for about $25. I may try drilling cooling holes in the case too. You could rewind the armature to 12V , double the turns using wire half the cross sectional area of the original , field coils would also need doing but you would need to make a jig to make these , the field coils are the harder bit. I rewound my 12V wipers to 10v , no extra heat but the wipers are a lot faster

All rewindable but a bit far for me to pop over sadly

Not done much as usual but have redesigned the alternator stay / adjusting bracket , left and right handed thread on the rose joints and a brass link bar .

Well this has decided to eat its waterpump , its been fitted well over ten years so cant complain . I can however complain about the new one leaking . I did fit a NOS cowl and fan at the same time so it looks better even if its not . It also decided running on two cylinders was a good idea after something jammed up one of the Twin SUs needle valve however i still managed to backfire , pop and crawl my way home . In other news the oil filler effort was decidedly rusty and to top it all off not sealing so I bought a stainless radiator neck - cut the overflow pipe off and having brazed the overflow hole up and made a new mount for it solved that issue once and for all

So self isolation continues and boredom often sets in . So i had a play with the last remaining bit of red fiberglass . This time to replace the curly headlining - well I say headlining but its more a 3 inch strip of knackered hardboard . In fact the original is long gone and this was really one for the rear of a saloon i bunged on . Initially the plan was to cut the fibreglass to fit ( slightly deeper to cover the roof aerial mount ) then cover it in white vinyl or something else yet to be decided . Anyway an hour or so later it was cut and trial fitted and actually I'm liking the red - had a bit of red edging that was on the rear seat mount and plonked that on for now . Opinions on it good or bad ?? The old and very curly one

They look cool, where did you get the fibreglass sheet from? Just put in GP03 fiberglass in google , its fairly easy to get

Looks like electrical insulation board, we use it offshore, comes in various thicknesses ans sizes It is indeed - GP03 and as you say available in many sizes and thicknesses , just so happened the red almost matches the seats

High level brake light is now LED - 2W instead of 16W and quite capable of removing your retina with the main lens removed 😳 Interior tail tail lights still work , this is just a lens that picks up the main bulb and it was the way I knew the Singers brake light switch was sluggish tother week

For a while now myself and the team at Brise have been developing a 40A tiny Denso . Instead of the 40A max output we reckoned a 60A version could be wound and built with a decently low cut in . Anyway this week i came up with the right winding spec and after a dummy wind and test on a S/H one rewound a brand new Denso , varnished and tied the stator and it was built up for proper testing . The upside is I get to try it on one of my cars

Next job was to investigate why the battery was not charged. After measuring with the multimeter, i found out thst the isolation of the alternator coil was not oke. The alternator of the Ducati is inside the engine in the engine oil and has a magnitic rotor and a copper wired stator New ones can be purchased but cost Euro 450,- so i did some Googling and looked on You tune and decided the rewind it myself. There are lot of videos on Youtube from India and South America where this is still common practice. Mine is a single phase so not to difficult to rewind. Found a compagny in the UK that supplies the copper wire, insulation pieces and varnish and have asked them if their parts can handle the hot engine oil and am waiting for an answer. It looks like all the parts cost less then Euro 30,- so definetely worth a try I work for a rewind company and can do this no problem if you get stuck , don't strip it out though if your not doing it yourself as id need to get the spec , you need wire size ( cross sectional area ) , turns , how its connected ( star or delta ) , and lead out positions , don't rely on the coating on the core for insulation as it often burns away once its shorted to earth as yours has . If its just a single wire then it will be wound clockwise , next slot anticlock and so on creating the N/S poles .if you need any advise ask away . Heres a Denso one i did for one of my cars
