blimey. Thats steep. But these beasties are about your safety. I've had a jack go on me and that was NOT a nice experiance. Surely its just a case of honing the cylinders and finding some rubbers of the right size and assemblig it all? Thats what I would have thought. Like you say safety is essential and I don't have the skills to do it safely myself.

Hi folks I've got an old Epco trolley jack - massive heavy beast dating from the fifties or sixties. Anyway, the seals have gone and it doesn't lift anymore. A local hydraulic refurbishing place has quoted me £320 to refurb it. Is it worth it? Or should I get a new one for half that? I don't want to throw away such a nicely made bit of kit but £320 sounds a bit steep. Anyone either know of a cheaper place for refurbing jacks or advice on a new one? (I need a pretty high lift on me jack!) Thank you. ;D

Well simply I recieved a speeding ticket, I was pulled over by a traffic car, then given a ticket (fixed penalty, £60 3pts). This was fine until I had noticed the police officer had writen the wrong date on the ticket, this was after handing in my lisence, I went back to the station and reclaimed it. This means that I now have to go to court now. Where do I stand on this issue, as I'm a little confused?? I'm not prepared to acept I was there 24hours earlier, but are they going to give me a new ticket(with correct date), or just drop it, or maybe call me a lier and say that he got the date right?? Many thanks Guy Are you a member of Old Skool Ford? (I see you've got a Mk1 Escort). Only they have a room on the forum for law related questions answered by a member who is a copper. Might be worth a post there. www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=91

Agreed cortinaman I think these look long lanky and stringy with a funny design but they have so much potential, the big wheels and serious customer look of it makes all its features work, very cool. The design flaw with Fastback Rapiers is the panel between the door and the back wheel is too long for a coupe (comes from using a hillman hunter estate floor pan) sticking flared arches round the wheels sorts this out nicely!!

Inspired by this: I thought; ain't it strange how race cars/non scene cars look soo much better than those trying to fit in to a style: Take ^ sunbeam: There is no doubt it is cooler than an eskimo's :blank: But why? Form follows function.....You find a random car and take it racing. For the class you're racing in you fit a big engine. So you need to put the power down, so you fit wide wheels. These stick out of the arches so you form some flares to just cover the wheels. Less weight = more speed so take off anything you don't need, so off go the bumpers, perspex windows..... Don't fill the mounting holes 'cos filler falls out and weighs you down. You only need one wiper so get rid of the spare one! Your new big engine needs more air, you've got quad head lights, you only need two, so use the spares for air intakes. Racing is dangerous - so put in a roll cage, not 'cos its cool, but it might save your life. What do need inside? A seat, a wheel some peddles and an oil pressure light (maybe a rev counter), nothing more. Stick on a race number, and a few sponsers stickers 'cos they give you some money. Form follows function........FTW. The coolest cars are the one's not trying to be cool. Just a thought!

Hmmm interesting - weren't GK's glassfibre? Unless it's a different rapier? I'm sure I read about it in C&SC a few months back. I i can find it i'll scan it and post it up. Top man. That would be interesting to see.
