Wow, that is lovely, wheels suit it so well. Had many cars through the years including 11 Nova's but my red GTE really is the one that got away, would love another just like it.

Should really update this properly... Due to everything going on and the lack of shows, this has had virtually zero use this year, at no point have I just been for a drive in it which is frustrating but I have tried to turn the lack of use in to getting some jobs done. So far this year I've: 1. Had a full exhaust system built from the manifold back removing the terrible join that was on the manifold, this includes a performance CAT. 2. Fitted my short shifter which has dramatically improved the feel of the selector. 3. Re jigged the wiring loom so it is a bit tidier with less on show. 4. Had the inlet and camcover powder coated (sadly the cam cover was damaged when I went to fit it so a replacement is being done in the next few weeks). 5. Full service which has improved things, was well overdue tbh. I'm having fun and games with speedo cables at the moment, the fun thing about this car is that if the speedo cable isn't present, the car cuts out when the revs drop, not the easiest things to be fitting either, original one is not available so picked up a pattern part which ended up being very noisy. Tracked down an original which I fitted yesterday but obviously not run it correctly as the speedo has stopped working again, hoping to resolve this ASAP. A couple of recent pictures:

The TAO1 is a classic, mine is still a runner if I ever find the time to use it along with all the others. I've starting showing my 18 month old my youTube videos of mine running and he looks interested, i'm waiting until he is about 3.5 then I will unveil the contents of the loft and the many Tamiya cars to him

I've got a Nationwide FlexPlus account which includes a breakdown service. I've used it a few times now and it has been excellent. They send local recovery firms so the response has always been pretty quick. I'm covered for any vehicle I am in at the time of the break down. For the money I don't think it can be beaten to be honest. James + 1 Just used it again this morning as the old reliable daily refused to start at the office last night. Called at 11.20am and by 12pm they were here. For £13 a month, recovery for any car plus mobile phone and travel insurance is pretty good tbh!

Don't currently have one but keeping an eye out for a nice little project, fancy an early to mid 90's as that was my period, checking on eBay but as expected, prices tend to be inflated. Must find a forum....

Always fun restoring old RC cars, have a number of vintage Tamiya models myself which I will never part with, can't wait until my son is old enough to enjoy them.

Neighbour has a scimiter sat behind a fence for what must be between 25 and 30 years, I remember when it lived on the road when I was a kid, there is something else with it as well but I can't remember what it is. Must be covered by the undergrowth now Whereabouts? My outlaws are in Heswall. Upton, about a 10 minute drive from Heswall.

Treated the V50 to a set of Osram Night breakers and some matching side lights. Must say, they have really modernised the light output, a nice white light compared to the previous yellow glow. I've only observed the output on the drive way but they certainly seem nice and bright!

We have a 2007 V50 2.0D R-Design as the family car, brilliant all rounder, would recommend to anyone. Needs better headlights would be only complaint, standard halogens is like driving with candles. What a co incidence, just this morning I fitted some 150% brighter bulbs from Halfrauds as I've always thought the same thing. Coming back from the NEC recently I drove the Corsair home, the wife followed in the V50, you could visibly see the standard halogens weren't a patch on other cars in the rear view mirror. They were more of a yellowy light. The wife just recently bought a Fiat 500 Abarth, but the dipped headlights on that were truly dreadful, so I fitted the same uprated bulbs to that yesterday evening and the difference was instantly apparent just in our yard. So I'm hoping I'll get the same results on my V50. Will know when i come home from work later tonight. Interested in hearing of they made a difference to yours. I was going to buy some Osram bulbs a few weeks ago but felt like I was may have been wasting my money...

Good progress, loved my 106 GTi, would love to own another, pretty much perfect car in standard form which is a rare thing.

Wow, this is awesome.
I did the same thing with RS Turbo seats in my Corsa, by far the best retro seats available!
Interested how you cut them down, will PM you...

I've been given a discount code by the club I normally attend with but I can't figure out where this code gets entered on the ticket site? I consider myself computer literate after 20 years in I.T so am missing something obvious here? 😂 Discount code? I don't think discount codes exist - it's just a standard flat advance price or pay on the gate price. I guess you mean the club code so the organisers know what stands the cars are on. If so that's on retroridesevents.com/ - when you sign up there you can enter in your club code and your ticket booking code (that you get once you've purchased your ticket) to tie the two together. Saw you roll by when you arrived at really retro show on sunday by the way. looks good. Thanks, it seems it was a miscommunication from the chap setting up the club stand so standard ticket bought, still pretty cheap at £10 Ah, nice to be spotted Yours was one of the few makes/models my car mad nephew didn't recognise, looked very clean and sits nice 👌
