I'm coming to the realisation that my camper is going to be another year or so in the building and I'm despatate for something to cart my mountain bike around - and parts for the van. So I'm after an estate preferably but a van or pick up could work as I don't really need the seats. Maybe even a larger 5 door hatch. Needs to be capable of daily duties from the off, I.e MOTed. Not too fussed about economy really as I only have 5 mile commute. It must be retro/interesting though. My golf is a 1983 Mk1 GTI with 16v engine and brakes from a Mk2 including servo and vented grooved discs. Other mods include, stainless exhaust and 4 branch tubular manifold, KN element filter. Coilover suspension and BBS alloys. Long MOT and some tax. Very recent cambelt recept for the part somewhere - but fitted by me. Serviced all fluids and filters recently as well. Nice car - not mint - but very nice, gets lots of comments from all sorts of people. Could do cash either way.

Hi got some 14 x 7 lotus eclat rims, they're 4 x 114.3 (you don't state 4 or 5 x 114.3), ET15 ish. Pic stolen from elsewhere mine are gold and silver not polished and would benifit from a repaint but theres no serious corrosion/scratching. Let me know if you're interested and I'll get some pics of the actual ones for you.

I had this conversion on a 93 L plate Italian Job, everything else was standard i.e servo m/cylinder, rear brakes etc. I used Mk11 fiesta calipers with standard pads. The brakes took a bit of bedding in and had a firmer pedal than the standard brakes (I prefered that anyway) but they had loads of power, even better than the metro turbo 4 pot, vented discs that I've used in the past. Definately worth persevering with it. Sorry I can't be much use in solving the problem. Have a picture instead

The car was a 325 before conversion, it has the ABS module under the bonnet however I couldn't be 100% sure that its working - I've never needed to brake hard enough to lock it up in all the time I've had it. I'll try and take it out to test it soon.
318 badge was a touch from a previous owner.
Not too keen on the Volvo - I have a 1997 Honda Accord now for interim A-B purposes so only really looking for something retro/interesting. Cheers for the offer.
As for the Saab its still a little thirsty - I can get 30 MPG on a run out of the BMW.

Cairyhunt, just bought my girlfriend a mk3 on sun for her first car, don't really fancy a his and hers, sorry. Tigran, its for sale as well as swap. I'm based in the midlands halfway between Derby and birmingham, its worth a bit of a trek though, I flew to aberdeen and drove it 400+ miles home averaged 31 miles per gallon and no problems then or since.

Right I suppose it time I admit to myself that I ought to start trying to sell this, just bought another cheap car to use as a daily so need the space. I'll get some better pics up in as soon as I get a chance to take some in the light.
There is still a possibility that I'd swap for something interesting and smaller (I should be able to shift the interim motor quite quickly as is owes me next to nothing)
Mk1 Golf of any varient, Caddy, 3dr, 5dr, Jetta (but the cabriolet) are the current faves. Other possibles are Sciroccos, Mk 2 Golf...
Despite the above I'm not exclusively after a Vdub so try me.
Also for sale, make me a offer. Probably be on ebay by the end of the week.

Hi all new to the site very glad I found it though its great. I have a 1991 BMW 325i Touring that has been fitted with a 3.5 litre M30 engine from a 535i. It also has a 5 speed manual box (quick shift conversion) and LSD - 3.64 ratio I think. The engine is fitted in position 3 for those in the know - for those that arn't it means that the engine is fitted as far back as possible for the best weight distribution and handling. Stirling silver bodywork, black leather interior, BBS 15" alloys (with all centre caps) 4 new tyres 1500ish miles ago, HR Cup suspension 60/40 drop, PAS, electric windows (4) electric sunroof, trip computer, electric mirrors, sony CD player. Car is in good condition, uses no oil and does not smoke. It pulls like a train as you might imagine. The body is mostly tidy, suprise suprise the tailgate is the worst bit, doors wings and arches are fine. Few stone chips etc as would be expected of a car of this age. MOT till 11/08 Tax till 6/08 I've recently changed jobs and now have a long commute almost all of which is in urban traffic. Don't get me wrong this car isn't stupidly thirsty for what it is (30+MPG is easily possible on a long run) but I need something a little smaller and more suited to all the urban driving. I really love this car but I've also taken a pay cut in the new job (in order to recieve training) I have to make compromises somewhere. I'm after a swap for something smaller (more specifically - smaller engine) but still interesting/retro. I'm up for a straight swap or for something cheaper with cash my way. Sorry for the dark picture - taken tonight, I'll sort some better ones ASAP. Any questions just PM me.
