I'm coming to the realisation that my camper is going to be another year or so in the building and I'm despatate for something to cart my mountain bike around - and parts for the van. So I'm after an estate preferably but a van or pick up could work as I don't really need the seats. Maybe even a larger 5 door hatch. Needs to be capable of daily duties from the off, I.e MOTed. Not too fussed about economy really as I only have 5 mile commute. It must be retro/interesting though. My golf is a 1983 Mk1 GTI with 16v engine and brakes from a Mk2 including servo and vented grooved discs. Other mods include, stainless exhaust and 4 branch tubular manifold, KN element filter. Coilover suspension and BBS alloys. Long MOT and some tax. Very recent cambelt recept for the part somewhere - but fitted by me. Serviced all fluids and filters recently as well. Nice car - not mint - but very nice, gets lots of comments from all sorts of people. Could do cash either way.

Ctistu2 - Cheers for the offer looks a nice car (silver one I take it), Mrs has a mk3 though and I'd feel a bit his and hers if you get me - stupid I know but hey.
Also bit far away - my fault I should have said I'm near Derby.
Cheers for the saab offer as well, would like something a little older really - under the bonnet of the saab would probably baffle the hell out of me.
Also really would prefer an estate van or pick up over hatch if possible.

1988 BMW E28 520i lux on bbs 15" alloys and dropped 35mm would normally not get rid of it as it is my daily but I've always fancied a mk1 golf gti. It has a huuuuge boot and has low mileage (120k) and that great straight 6 grunt Attachments:

Hi the BMW doesn't quite fit the bill but I do quite like e28s.
Do the back seats fold down or is it a fixed bulkhead? Auto or manual? Whats the bodywork like rust etc?

fixed bulkhead but can easily fit a bike.
it's a manual and there's a few dings here and there but no major rust whatsoever which is odd for an e28! haha
interior is in good nick too and it's mot'd til november

liam - sorry but I'm definatly going to need something that the seats fold down in at least. Last car was a saloon and it was only just managable with the seats down. Need a fair bit of gear as well as the bike - especially for weekends away - and often have to carry a mates bike as well. Cheers for the offer though I am a big fan of the e28. Just had a quick look for some to try and gauge a value from, shocked at how few seem to be about. This one is a similar spec mechanically for £2495 This one also similar spec but 1.9 8v and looks similar for £3200 I had a look here at the mk1 golf owners club value guide www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=33I'd put mine around condition E which makes it around £2200. So I suppose it comes down to how much you value the quicker engine and other upgrades (in my experience its not often the case that they add big value unless its exactly what someone else is after). No offence to the cars above ment. Just going by the owners club guides. Sorry for the big long post but I hate trying to put a value on my own cars.

Mrrodney - sorry should have said not a fan of diesel power.
Carrottop I'll PM you some more details and pics. If you could do the same with some more info on the passat that'd be good, looks nice. Nice van to, mines similar ('72 crossover)
Engine, MOT, Tax, service history, miles, details of mods, and condition especially rust wise (if any), location, and anything else I've missed.

Carrottop van looks sweet. Yearning for the day when mine looks similar. Gonna be a while the rate I'm going. Hope to hear from your mate. You got my PM I take it.
Geeza, not one for spoked rims or autos I'm afraid.

Would you be interested in an '89 Integra EX16, had a couple of MTBs in the back a couple of times, good amount of space, pretty economic and nippy. Plus some $$$ to your way of course
