There were moves in this direction a few years back, fortunately good sense prevailed and it came to nothing. Has the old story just re-surfaced or is this a new threat I wonder? Not sure if the threat ever went away, during the pandemic they restricted all vehicles along Madeira drive to 'encourage walking' They'd love to put paid to it, regardless of how much money it brings in, or that the local businesses mainly support it, or so I've been told. What next? London to Brighton vintage car run? Mini one, landy one?

I've heard a nasty rumour that this year's event will be the last. I've done a quick search, and can't find anything official, but if it was a sneaky move by Brighton and Hove council it wouldn't surprise me at all, they've been trying to stop it for years. It's the oldest Motorsport event in the world, one weekend a year. Apparently it's due to their 'low emission zone' Now I know as a Motorsport enthusiast, and a petrolhead, I'm the antichrist, and should be beaten with tofu and a pedal cycle until I see sense, but really? Anyone else seen about this?

Friends did a similar thing with a narrowboat, but BWA and the IWA put so many obstacles in the way that they were forced to become land dwellers again. At least with a van, you don't appear to have so many stupid restrictions π

βββ I did hear that there's quite a few 'vanlife' guys and gals living in that sort of thing, in and around the area, need to be local for work, but can't afford the rents π

There comes a point where you have to accept what you want to do and when. I you really don't feel like working outside or even inside when it's cold then don't. But also don't feel guilty or punish yourself fot it We do this because we want to and these days want seems to be a dirty word. There's nothing wrong with spending a cold evening indoors watching somebody on youtube doing the things you think you should be doing yourself. The quickest way to kill your love of any enjoyable activity is to do it when you know you won't enjoy it. That's one of the best arguments I've heard for having a project, you can always think 'sod this for a laugh', and walk away, knowing that you don't have to finish it to get to work in the morning. Of course, it's usually the daily that needs emergency attention....π

I've got one of those cheap kits with multiple heads, like 3 point crosshead screw (π€·) Present from my useless in-laws, only thing they ever bought me worth having! One of those tools you might only need once a year, but when you do, it's invaluable.

Yeah I'd agree, if you're lucky there may be a builders plate on one of the cabinets or doorshuts, if it's still there it'll give you some more info. History may be available from gaydon motor museum, depending on whether it's one of those that got lost in a fire (I think) a few years ago GLWTS, Wish I was in the market for another project!

ββthis Having been fined several years ago for going round the block to turn round, and inadvertently gone into the congestion charge zone, without realising it, this seems like a great solution to me.

I think you've missed the point of advent calendars...you have to get them before December starts, to open the first door (and in this case get the tool) on the day. Bit pointless if you waited until December, you'd be late! But then you can open lots of doors all at once....,π
