BORING UPDATE ALERT
no pictures and not much of an exciting update hut tonight we finally got the car all bolted together to the point where we have managed to start the car and run it through the gears. I'm pleased to say it now starts runs and goes into all 6 gears and reverse. Propshafts will be ready mid next week so it's getting there So jobs a good 'un' and it's beer time. Can now get cracking on with the rest of the build which I will get some pictures of to keep toy all interested.
But for now I'm sat with my feet up and have a cold beer.

Bit of a catch up from the past week. Fitted the flywheel spacer, flywheel, clutch and cover. Then offered up the gearbox ad mounted it to the engine. We then hit a problem yet again. As we have milled 7mm off the adaptor plate the rear gearbox mount was now 7mm away from fitting. So I ended up chopping that to bits and altering that. Quick link of paint and offered it up. Then was a matter of fitting the at rater and wiring etc. The starter will be used to trial run the engine this week then after that I'll get a new one as this old girl has been through the wars with building this car. So it might find its way out to a plaque on the wall. Lol. Got thew ecu fitted in place and topped up the gearbox oil. Measured up for the propshafts. Rear prop is tiny only about 340mm long front on the other hand is about 1400mm so will need a centre support bearing. Any how have some pictures so show some progress. Also had issues with the master cylinder not operating the slave cylinder for the clutch. Alot of head Scratching lead us to the conclusion that the altered landrover pedlar box was the issue. So out with the grinder some 5mmm thick steel bar and a welder sorted it all.

On thin metal like that it's very difficult to just do one continuous weld. It's far easier on thick material. For body work as mentioned above, you are best to just do individual spot welds and let the panel cool between periods of welding as with it being so thin it can distort very easily. Welding body work takes time and patience unfortunately.
For a first time I'd say give your self a pat on the back and a chocolate biscuit with your well earned brew

used to run a 3.5v8 on a flapper efi system in my previous racer, then moved onto a 3.9v8 on hotwire which with the modifications done to it went to microsquirt.
In the 2 years I raced that engine on the flapper efi I had no issues with it. Theres a few good guides for fault finding the flapper setup on these which I used to keep in the race van for fault finding on these.
wedled a range rover bobtail for what seems like weeks back in 2008 and also done my fair share of welding on a couple of discoveries. if you get stuck with the gas conversion try cargas in Stoke-on-Trent

I'd try and rx8 box I've just spent ages mounting an s3 1.8t engine to a 350z gearbox. Yeah they are massively strong but was a pain in the ar@e to get to work and the boxes are getting big money now Whereas rx8 boxes are peanuts

Used to race 1/10th scale indoor carpet touring cars before they all went to lipo stuff and brushless motors. Must be 16 years or so since I gave them up. Probably about the time I got my first car and started fitting fibreglass spoilers and bumpers and massive speakers. Son had no spare cash. Still have a few bits in the garage I've picked up over the years to message about with. Have a nitro off road savage monster truck and a 1/10th brushless buggy and a 1/10th touring car from 17 years back.

Looks cool as flip. Would get some looks driving that a round locally to me. Would love to have the space and time for something different like this.

Yup Changed the gas to pure argon. Stuck some alloy wire in and away we go. I did query this my mate who's helping me build he car has 23 years experience as a metallic fabricator. And apparently it's something to do with the tube feeding the gun if it's plastic it's fine? Something like that anyway. I brought a new sealey supermig 180 about 18 months back and so far so good.
I'm by no means a welder fabricator. I work in an office all day and by trade was a gas installer (heating) and electrician.
So I don't get to do this type of stuff often. I've sort of had free training off my mate.

Had time to get the starter motor remounted. So I spaced off the mk4 golf section of the gearbox and then set about alloy welding it together with some 2.5mm alloy plate. It's been done with a mig other a tig so not as pretty. On the top mount for the starter the thread isn't in the mount I cut off the mk5 box it's part of the bell housing. When we fitted it last time I drilled and tapped he 350z bell housing. But now it had been moved a further 21mm the bolt would be massive. So I drilled out the mk4 mounting.heated and knocked in some alloy bar and then welded it in. All I need to do now is drill and tap it for an m12cap head. And that's how you make a golf mk4 starter motor to a Nissan 350z gearbox I will be fitting for the last time the flywheel and box tomorrow night. Locktite and torqued up for hopefully the final time.

Personally I'd find out who owns the space I front. I'd also have a nice sign made you a local sign writer. With a notice to say "access required 24 Hours . All vehicles will be clamped with a £125 release fee." Mount it to the door.
Then if you do have the right of parking on the drive space clamp them. You've not left a phone number so he will be buggered.
That or Jack the car up.and drag it Into the road then ring the police to say it's obstructing traffic.
We had it outside our works unit years back. Turned out the guy was an off duty copper. As it was on the road on double yellows we rang the police. When they turned up and the driver at the same time it was quite funny.

I made some mudflaps for my last rally landrover which extended up the a post. In total they were 850mm long trying to get something like that off the shelf was never going to happen. So I looked online for a rubber wholesaler and there's one local to me who sells all types of rubber and pastic sheets/rolls They cut it to length and for all 4 was quite cheap. They have all types of material and thickness so might be worth while looking up some where local as it will most probably be cheaper

A couple I've spotted around Barcelona. The financial crisis hit this place pretty bad, so a lot of cars with expired ITV inspections (MOT). These two have clearly been stood around longer than normal though. They also have the expected "We will buy your car" flyers under the windscreen wipers lol. How do they get away with parking them on what seem busy main roads if they have no mot?

The depth on those paint jobs is just out now this world. Would like to imagine the hours gone into them. Detail to a whole new level.
