Cheers for the comments about the wheels guys. I'm definitely going with plan B as like some noticed the dish is appealing. Anyway, the Cav is off the road for the Winter which gives me time to sort out some really annoying little jobs that I've wanted to do. They are; Heater blower not working Alternator not working Some Instrument lights not working Instrument cluster heavily covered in dust and dead bugs Door check straps inop Oil leak from mechanical fuel lift pump First of all I started on the removal of the alternator. It hadn't bothered me over the Summer as I was only using it during the day and I always put the battery on charge in the garage. So I whipped off the unit. I'm so glad I took it off, when I spun the pulley there is a horrible knocking from it, I bet the engine will be so much quieter when replacement refitted. Not sure whether to get repaired or replaced. I guess I might not have the choice with it being so old. I also need a new V belt as the old one has hardened and become brittle. I'll update on wether I successfully locate an alternator soon. Next job was to tackle the heater blower. I first of all suspected the motor was probably at fault so I removed it from the housing. When I tested the motor with my power probe I found that it worked on both speeds. Hmmm so back to basics then. Next I probed the feed connector. Bingo! Problem located as it was only feeding the motor 5V. First of all I thought it was cruddy terminals as you can see. However, when I probed the wires through the insulation before the connector I was still getting 5V. Time to trace back. I removed the switch, tested it and soon realised that it was an earth switch and working perfectly. No fault there. So then my attention was turned to power feed. Check the trusty Haynes manual diagram and found that the torpedo fuses were all totally corroded and crusty! So on removal of all the fuses and a good clean of the terminals, I fired up the motor and hey presto! It was happily blowing a gale out of the vents, including some dust and very old parking tickets! Next was the instrument cluster as there was a dead bug squashed between the plastic and the temperature gauge which had been bothering me for ages. Plus there were a few bulbs that weren't working in the cluster. Cluster all exposed, I just need a soft brush now to dust them down. I also found two bulbs that needed replacing. The Ign (battery) light bulb and the Hazard warning flasher. I finally got rid of the dead insects with a good sharp gust of breath. From this photo you can see just how much dust had accumulated behind the lens. The outer cluster and lens needs a very good cleaning. I also took the clock out as it doesn't seem to illuminate, however I'm pretty sure it should do so I removed it for closer inspection. Perhaps fellow Cavalier owners can confirm my thoughts? I also want a period head unit to put in the gap too. I don't really care if it works either. If anyone has one feel free to let me know. Finally I was looking around the rest of the interior as it needs a bit of a refurbish. I found this behind the passenger sun visor. It did make me chuckle. Obviously it was a long time ago, I don't think that's the politically correct term these days. Anyway, thanks for looking and as always, all comments welcome.

Good luck,
I don't think you'll need it though as your Chevette looks stunning. Love what you've done to it.

Report it to your local police force. It's the very least tampering with a motor vehicle. What sort of Granada do you have?

Ok so I've been over to the workshop, We've decided to do two different types of the wheel and see which I prefer. Here are the two examples. Type 1 This type has the 1.5" band cut in to it in the middle. This is means you have the step effect on the dish and would allow me to still keep the chrome belishers. Type 2 We've put the 1.5" band next to the outer bead, this way when you look at the dish it's totally straight and I think it actually makes the wheel look bigger, it certainly gives the impression of being wider. Fitting and removing the tyre is done from the rear though. Obviously they are both a Long way from being finished yet! However this was to decide which way I wanted the wheels to be. So we did both types as a mock up. What are people's opinions? Type A or B?

I'm not familiar with a Humber Sceptre setup, however it sounds an awful lot like an issue I had on my Sierra which had the Teves electric servo assistance.

It's quite common with modern boxes. They pretty much all look the same, so criminals will look through EBay classifieds or autotraders for number plates of similar cars to theirs so that if a pnc check is done on them it still looks 'all in order'. It means they can misbehave at someone else's expense. I have also seen it done by lower end criminals for bilking fuel.
Should be straight forward if the car has been laid up and is totally undriveable.

I have been in contact with Draven666 in relation to this car.
We have been conversing via pm on here, they openly told me that it was on EBay (I'd already found it anyway) when I asked to view the car later this week they told me that they had someone interested in viewing the car Tuesday. Which I appreciate as that gave me an indication that the car may have gone before that point. I'm a pretty good judge of character, at no point did I feel that Draven666 was shifty or a time waster. However I don't know the ''ins and outs' with regards to the issue with this other member.
Personally Draven666 I'm sure will have learnt to be clearer with descriptions in relation to MOT. (However a lot needs to be said that they are not willing to let a car go until fairly repaired and happy with the road worthiness) But I don't think it's fair to openly slate a member on their for sale thread without speaking to them first. This is why I felt compelled to remark.

My younger brother is selling his MK1 Nova. It's very clean and has a backed up genuine 41k miles. He's running the advert on EBay as a classified. He couldn't seem to create an account on here when he tried so hasn't been able to show it off. pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=271595469635

A small update on this one. I saw these on EBay and managed to win them for the princely sum of £20! UPS Express then collected and delivered them to me for £13. Standard Vauxhall 13" Rostyles. Having measured them on the car I've decided on my band size. The next plan is to get them sandblasted and cut.

Had this a while now, it's my daily driver and it's also the newest car I own. I wasn't sure whether it was retro but I think it's just falling in to that category. It's a Vert as you can see, it's finished in Dakar yellow. The only mods are; Tein lowering springs Simota air box SuperSprint full stainless steel exhaust Mechanically everything else is totally standard and it's currently on 110k miles. It's just had it's inspection two at BMW. Service book is all stamped up with BMW stamps. Only plans are some uprated shock absorbers as the standards are a little squashy. Cosmetically it has; 17" Motorsport wheels repainted gloss black as they were heavily corroded. Kidney grills replaced for black items. I also have the hardtop finished in Dakar yellow and that will be fitted soon as the weather has taken a turn. Anyone that's owned one of these knows they pull like a train through the top end of the revs and they sing! It still puts a big smile on my face. Anyway here's the pictures. All comments welcome, thank you for looking.
