Still coming on nicely ! Be a great looking truck when finished. That tent was a massive bonus - could do with a find like that to make up the summer roof on ours. James

Ooh some nice stuff, looks like there is some serious possibility to getting something that can be brought home for profit at the end too. R4's are cool, but just had a look and you could get a Citroen Visa GTI for $750 or a VW Jetta GTI for $1990 Peougeot 505 sti $1000 wow James

Will the good (and bad) people of RR kindly stop maiming themselves ! It’s been carnage lately. Wishing you a speedy and full recovery - the sticker I would frame personally as like the other (older) James I’d have been in the whimpering in the corner afraid to look camp. James
P.S. nice tools btw

gawd a mighty what an end of the day , bravo for the courageous attitude matt. I wasn't very courageous last night, I wanted a cry and a sulk haha. But more water was last thing I needed haha. Settled on a beer when I finally sat down instead. We've all been there ! I think when you are in the middle of a FML moment and just get it done you earn your big boy adulting pants. Still sucks though and moving forward without getting down about it can be hard. A little bit of beer obviously helps. Keep the updates coming good and bad it's good to see you coming out of it all OK. James

From dodgy memory think you need to be careful if the head gasket is going as you can drop the liners and kill the engine pretty well if it gets properly hot . If you have to take the head off get it checked for flatness as well I replaced 2 head gaskets before getting it skimmed.... Pushrod so easy enough job though. James

Sent in the V5 for the LR when we swapped the engine last year and just came straight back with new number. Hopefully do the same for you even though I assume the CC has changed ? Old engine number on LR was wrong anyway as it was the head casting number ! With LR’s on historic reg’s you don’t want to have to explain the lack of chassis number (it’s under that plate honest) and different engine number... James

Nice, waxoiled one like this in blue for a friend once when she bought it from an old boy down the road. Done just after it had had replacement wings so It lived way longer than most after this ! Agree metric wheels jar looks wise, would have had posh trims on steels wouldn’t it ? Good luck finding some pepper pots. James

Cool, thanks for sharing ! Nice to see some nice old Skoda rally cars in the clip with a Skoda Rapid 136 in my past always liked these as the heritage you could point at. Anybody know what the other 2 door thing was ? Bit Saab Sonet but not 100% sure it was one. James

That's lovely, the more you use it the better, especially brakes etc. On LR's I think the rule is just top everything up and put a drip tray under it - we've replaced all sorts of seals and it still leaks 500miles later. Being a 6 is special, take good care of it I understand they are pricy for bits so if its been done that's even more of a result. Not sold on the bling wheels, if it takes your fancy standard defender rims can be got for next to nothing to paint limestone to match up, might also fit on the bonnet so you can loose the rear mounted spare. Enjoy and keep the updates coming. James

Result ! Working van with more go and no more trips to hospital ?! So am I right recalling you having a big power version of this engine in the shed as well or am I just loosing more of the plot? Don’t forget to send off your V5 with new engine number on it just in case. James

Oof another proper job on the RR injury front. Hope it heals ok. As someone who is also not at all bothered about a slight lack of hair I think that when you clout yourself you do a better job as you have no hair to give a bit of a warning about the impending impact. Makes it easier to glue back together though ! Sports van progressing well. Going to do the brakes first and get them bedded in or be a real no airbag type of guy and go engine first ? James

Engine looks proper tidy after all your hard work. Is the original radiator up to the job or do you need a bit of extra cooling ? James

Or a red hot pin - less painful as the heat does the job with little pressure. James

Oof that’s a proper job on the finger, going to take weeks to heal don’t envy you that one bit. I’m much better at wearing gloves now but you still get caught out don’t you, skinned my knuckle yesterday brushing down a rendered wall ready to paint. Not like I’ve done that 50 bloody times in my life before. Nice progress on the pop going to be it’s best ever after all this. James

Have you sorted out the registration now. Brakes look good when you initially moved forward! yes v5 here and on the original plate too .the A.S. club was a great help with that problem. brakes are good and bitey . Did the V5 come back marked as 'non transferrable' so you can't sell the plate on ? Our DB tractor got to keep its plate (likewise with great help from the owners club) but is marked thus. Not that you would but interesting to note how the DVLA protects itself from others making money. James
