Evening! Well, I've managed to motivate myself a bit and after getting a proper grit blaster I set too on the engine bay. The stuff gets everywhere, but after masking up a bit and making a grit catcher out of a very large cardboard box we got to here Why I didn't just bite the bullet and buy one months ago, I will never know Suffice to say, it will be getting a lot more use! Today I had a clean up and hoovered up the used grit before tackling the dried waxoyl that had been spread liberally around the back end, and which wasn't doing a lot apart from collecting dirt. After an hour with a wire brush we got to what you see above ^^ I had noticed a couple of flaky areas though so had a tentative scrape with a small chisel Erm, that doesn't seem to be right! It basically looks like someone has painted chassis black everywhere without any prep! More scraping.... I'll be attacking it with the grinder tomorrow. More work, but there is surface rust under there and I don't want to have to go back and do any of this again so I'd rather give it the best chance possible! Thanks for looking in Pete

Great work you're doing there mate, at least you'll know it's nice and solid when you're finished. Welding's coming on too, hat's off for tackling it. I ran a mile when I saw the rust on mine!!

Getting there and it'll look much better with those wheels on Liking the steering wheel too, I had one in mine and can only remember that it was liking holding a lump of ice on a cold morning Did look good though!

Love the plans, I'm a big fan of Sebring arches but think that just the front and rear valances will look awesome. Can't believe that the bumpers weigh so much

Yep, what Mark ^^ says. I didn't do the 205 as it was 1.6 to 1.9 and you can't tell the difference externally, but I think someone may just notice if they peek under the bonnet And, seriously, we need to see pictures

Just read through the whole thread. Blown away by what you've done, feel guilty about getting someone else to build mine now If I get the chance again though, I'll be doing it myself! Oh, and your magazine collection is a bit like mine! I have lots of 'why did I keep that? Oh, yeah, picture of random car' ;D

Brilliant, what a cool bit of kit. Agreed it needs to come down a bit, make it look a bit more like a TC. Look forward to seeing how it turns out

Wow, that's a bit bonkers! Looks absolutely amazing. Personally I really like the wheels, although the ones in the build pics would probably suit it better.

Well as a Mk iv owner I have quite a lot of love for this. Echoing some of the other comments, mad openings, fake rat look (perfectly achieved and I HATE rat look) art, sense of humour etc etc. Yes, I really really like it ;D

That doesn't sound good! Literally Let me know if you need anything (I've got an engine stand that I'm not using at the moment (and a lift which I am but you can borrow!!)) and tools and a spare pair of hands etc!! (No mojo though, I've used it all up on the van......)
