hi all
i have just about completed my MK2 with chevy LS1 conversion and am wondering what should i do registering it ?
should i tell them about the engine conversion or just leave the original 1098cc engine on the log book, if i change the engine details will i need to get like an IVA test like kit cars, on other conversions ive done in the past ive never bothered telling them about it but this time I'm not sure what to do
i don't have a prob about telling then about the colour change its just the engine details I'm concerned about
any help or guidance would be very much appreciated
cheers

Depends whether you want to break the law or not, really.
Yes, declare it. Declare everything.

send off the logbook with the new engine size actual size don't round it off along with a letter on headed paper from a garage confirming the engine has been fitted including the engine number or you will just get a letter back asking you to do this . failure to declare changes can invalidate your insurance

Yep, what Mark ^^ says. I didn't do the 205 as it was 1.6 to 1.9 and you can't tell the difference externally, but I think someone may just notice if they peek under the bonnet And, seriously, we need to see pictures

I did this with the chevette, bought with engine fitted, and log book incorrect, First thing i did, was went to a friendly garage, who i knew would be interested in the car, Gave them a note with the engine number on (to save them digging around) and they gave me a letter on headed paper, confirming reg, model, new engine number and CC. Sent it off with the v5, came back correct and no problems. And if i remember it didn't cost a penny. Just the extra tax! Thanks

Yup send the dvla the logbook with the appropriate details ie engine capacity and engine number. A couple of photos sent with it won't do any harm either.

I'm probably not qualified to give this advice at all, but I think I've read that any changes to the monocoque shell should be inspected (IVA)?
I'm not looking to start an IVA debate again, and I'm neither British nor living in the UK so I'm really just saying.

supposedly used to help avoid the hassle of inspection by only doing one change at a time, so send colour change then when the logbook came back do engine change (with supporting letter) either way get the logbook updated so you can legally kill nuns and kittens ps where are the pics
