I can't believe after all this time that a drag and drive event hasn't been done in the UK yet. Australia has their own event now and sure there was another country outside the US as well. Some years ago there was talk of two seperate events being organised but nothing ever happened with either of them. This was when Avon Park was still a functioning track, though Santa Pod to Avon Park wouldn't have been the most challenging drive! Santa Pod had a drag/drive on their calender for May last year which showed promise but was cancelled due to the continuing 'Rona BS. Santa pod start, York(?) Dragway, back to the pod, think there is a track Cornwall/Devon way and finish back at the Pod. 5 days with decent mileage between them. I do remember some of the comments from before. "Why do have to go to another track?" "Why is there so much driving?" Why is it mid-week, can't it just be a weekend?" So you want a single venue event, over a weekend with no driving? A normal event weekend then.

The (now slightly worse for wear) 2312whp black Chevy Nova was built, and is being driven by Stefan Rossi, an expat from the midlands. ACE Racing EnginesStarted out building/racing aircooled VWs in the UK then moved out to the US in 2019 to set up an engine shop out there. Still builds high spec aircooled motors, and now V8s. He blew a radiator hose on his first run Bradenton and got a bit sideways at 150mph+. Kissed the walls, but no structural damage. They've nursed the car to Gainesville and are still in the event. Thanks for the info. I watched the day 1 highlights, heard the Brit accent and the UK plate on the front!

Fantastic job by everyone involved, was a great event, bit of a shame about the weather but it was a great first running of the event and fingers crossed the beginning of more. We really enjoyed every part of it, we had fun in the wet with the Mini. So well done team monster effort and great results. It’s currently being discussed on a hillclimb forum with positive feedback. There is a hillclimb forum?

Alex was fine - he managed to put his car back together - the retro rides way (Duct tape and cable ties) he couldn't get his bonnet to shut but I gave him a hand to fix it and he drove home to reading (I hope he got there) Good to hear. Thanks for the update.

Are there any updates on Alex Thornton who had the off in his Integra?
We were pitted next to each other and I have only just caught up on the live feed.

Very narrow track, very high centre of gravity, handles like the Queen Mary. Very true. This picture is my sisters AFTER she rolled it! Now looks like this. If you had a Somerset that low, even if you could get it that low, it would be completely undriveable without some seriously extensive mods. Pretty certain it wouldn't steer and 100% you would have to jack the car up and drop the rear axle to get a rear wheel off!

Yes, but we're still working out what that means for camping, so hang tight and we'll get it sorted and communicate out. Any updates on camping for competitors? Still lacking accommodation and other options are limited. Thanks

Could you also confirm if we can compete under other MUK licences? I have a national B circuit license which actually requires a test rather than just an application so assuming i don't need to spend another £69? Also can we run two drivers in one car? I 99.9% certain a race or rally licence supersedes a speed licence.

Nice looking falcon Enbloc where was the pic taken? Funny story that too! North Weald airfield during a sprint last year. The Falcon wagon that Als Truckin' was moving is my dads, lol. Small world.

Another Falcon owner here. Reading your purchase story it sounded familiar and I went back and looked at your pictures and recognised the location! I went to view a Ranchero there before I bought my hardtop. Same deal didn’t really know anything about the car but it had a “roller” motor! It was all complete and running, I was a serious buyer so of course I wanted to test drive it. Oh no, we can’t take it on the road. Well that was a deal breaker for me and made it clear it was. He eventually agreed to a test drive to the end of the driveway. I pulled away in it at about 5mph and had gone about 15ft and he suddenly had a complete freak out in the cab like I was completely out of control of the truck and he feared for his life! This overreaction continued the whole length of the driveway, I’d barely gotten it out of 1st gear, until we got to the public road at which point he was a nervous wreck. I just wanted to burst out laughing, I thought it was a wind up but he was genuinely in massive distress! Really nice guy, super chatty and awesome cars but I don’t think he’d ever driven any of them or had any attention to do so.

I'm not really surprised.
They blocked non-US residents from all thier online content/websites last year, killed most of the magazines and now blocked the streaming app. It seems utter madness in a shrinking world where everything is a global market. As its just run by a suited corporation now I'm sure the changes are purely money/profit driven.
Being a Motortrend subscriber from the start and a non-US subscriber we've had a pretty raw deal. Only access to a fraction of the content available and constantly blocking series of shows for extended periods of time and yet we pay the same subscription price?
Yes I can jump through hoops to continue with access but why should I? They axed the dailies, axed Junkyard Gold and going by some of the recent show refreshes they are gradually turning it all into mainstream Discovery drivel anyway.
Its the start of the end. I'll be over on Youtube

I believe the reason that random series become unavailable is due to licensing. They get sold or licenced to other channels for a period of time. I've seen the same thing happen on Netflix. They do eventually become available again.

I think its laziness and it will catch up at some point.
The same thing happened with the Motortrend App. Huge amounts of the content disappeared over night to UK viewers. Most of it has returned now as they sorted out the legal side of things.

Many pages back I was most taken with the Land Rover’s 5-port brake Union, so Glen sent me one! I finally got it plumbed in and it has greatly improved the over-complicated mess I had before. Thanks Glen.

Great write up.
Same issue as everyone else with floor paint. The concrete dusting drives me insane.
The Costco tiles look smart.
Great looking garage as well!
