"They are interested enough to call us in for a face-to-face yesterday, but after batting it around for an hour (an hour which amused me greatly because it couldn't have been written by the finest workplace satire comedy writers) we were asked to go back and revise our proposal to tell them what it is they actually want, what it is we'll actually do, and what it is they'll actually get.
Three very simple questions. We're almost across the finish line therefore.
We really just need the answers. Once we have the answers, we're fine.
I'm thinking about it.
Give me a day.
I'm very confident we'll nail it."I know you'll nail it I just have this lovely vision of a bottle of Snake Oil wrapped in zip ties... I'd love to have been the fly on the wall at the meeting Just done the front end on the Scimmy Chassis we have here. It was really straightforward - including the trunnions (but we have massive amounts of room to work as there's no Scimitar bodywork in the way...

May have an SE6 axle in a few days. Coming out of a running & driving car. Can be bare, or complete with handbrake cables, Watts linkage & 4-bar links if needed. Won't split the axle though.

Just a thought regarding the drop plate & security; had the same worries as you regarding 'removability' & made a slight mod to the pins - opened the R clip holes out a little & used a long-reach padlock between the two pins.
Cheap & cheerful fix, but it's been on there for over 9 years & no-one's tried to remove it.
SORRY, WRONG PIC SELECTED - MY BAD! SEE NEXT POST
BTW, I've got a snakemaster unit with new (& spare) friction discs if you're interested.

Willwood front brake setup.
New, but have been bolted to uprights for mockup only (no longer have uprights). There's a pair of new 4 piston radial calipers complete with spacers & mounting brackets. New, boxed Wilwood pads. New discs - 285mm diameter, vented, drilled & grooved - detailed info in pics - have picked up light surface marking from previous storage. Hubs - used, but good condition (5 × 4.5" PCD), with inner & outer bearings, studs, nuts (nuts a bit rusty). Will bolt straight to Ford struts. Should fit other suspension setups as mounting brackets are bolted to calipers with spacers. £675 ono PM me for more info etc.

what exactly are you gettibg your knickers in a twist over?? this is all for new vehicles. Knickers not in a twist... just curse word off that everyone thinks "I'll just keep my head in the sand here, cos it doesn't matter to me"... The scare is that ALL kit cars / modified cars / Radical Rebodies / BIVA will HAVE to comply with the CURRENT (2018) emissions limits ON THE DAY OF REGISTRATION (NOT the date of engine as per now); THEY WILL BE CLASSED AS NEW REGISTRATIONS! Can YOU afford to put a brand new engine & electronics into your next build? If you think it doesn't apply to you - fine - you don't have to respond - or curse word at those who do care about the stuff we all enjoy messing with... Just don't whinge when you're the last man standing & they come for your toy... I know I'm paranoid , just been around long enough to have become a cynical old git. Remember, waaay back in 1938/1939 "“First they came for the *insert your chosen minority* and I did nothing, then they came for the *insert your larger chosen minority* and I still did nothing, then they came for the *insert your even larger chosen minority* and still I did nothing, then they came for me and no one else did anything.”If this offends, then I apologise unreservedly. Just go back and actually read what is being proposed - it is not a Consultation, it is a Notice of Implementation! AND all builds will have to comply ON THE DAY OF REGISTRATION TO THE CURRENT (AND FUTURE) EMISSIONS REGS - IT DOES APPLY TO ALL OF US!

Information over on the 'other side', even more cr*p is being snuck out by Government as a supposed Consultation which MOST will ignore. www.rodsnsods.co.uk/forum/licensing-legal-section/more-heavy-curse word-530026 Consultation here (4.10 - 4.14 specifically): www.gov.uk/government/consultations/road-vehicles-improving-air-quality-and-safetySeriously though, if you choose to stick your head in the sand & ignore this consultation, expect ANYTHING you register from this summer on to be essentially Fu***ed unless you can afford a brand new 2018 compliant engine... (naaah, he's talking BS... isn't he?). BULLET POINTS AND DRAFT LETTERS ARE BEING PUT TOGETHER BY A VERY COMMITTED FEW & ARE LIKELY TO BE READY AFTER THE WEEKEND. If anyone is interested, I'll be happy to share info as I get it. Cheers...

I know the thread is effectively closed but for info, I've used TransGlobal Express both ways several times.
They consign through DHL with a fully tracked service and were a fraction of the 'official' DHL pricing. Also insured a warranty return carb for full value despite being 'NIL' value for Customs declaration. Pretty quick service too!
Good people to deal with.
Hope this is of some use sometime.

As per title, can anyone help? We need a RHD Austin 1800 manual steering rack for a project (will post at the relevant point). Needs to be either good enough to use as is OR cheap enough to be worth rebuilding. Thanks in anticipation

Rain puddling solution - short term, have you room to slack off tie downs & zip tie a scaffold pole to the top centre of the hoops running down the centreline (wrapped in pipe insulation as padding) - might get you out of trouble.
Long term, possibly more 'bow' in the top bar of the hoops?

Didn't install translucent roof panels - mistake! Will get round to installing 4 pairs (toybox is 4-bay, 55' x 25') when I can; just don't like heights & too many other things to get on with. As for insulated panels, they can be scary expensive (£30 - £45 per metre run is really ouch...)! www.cladco.co.uk/sites/default/files/Cladco%20Price%20List%20%282%29.pdf

Magnificent to see her out and running. Have to agree, I was starting to sweat at the end of the road video - wondering when the cow catcher/nudge bar will be fitted?
Hope all going well with team-health!

Not wishing to digress, but as far as I remember, my 1986 190E 2.3-16 still had the standard clutch (see above post) &, at 186,000 miles, it held up to lots of 'spirited' use behind a Mosselmann Turbo kit! Probably about an extra 100hp or so (depending on who you believed)... You'd lose grip from the back end long before the clutch showed any signs of stress - and it was quick enough in 2nd gear roll-on to embarrass a new M3. Hmmm

You're so right, family 1st. Please pass on our best wishes to Maurice! Huge commitment to the Team from him; besides, anyone 'responsible' for Dangerous has got to be really cool The build will come together when it's meant to...
