Hi folks, so here is the story... Ok my peugeot 205 needed a couple of brake pipe replacing for the mot. I decided to buy a flaring tool and a roll of pipe and ended up replacing them all. I bled the brakes, got a good pedal, took it for a spin and the pedal sank straight to the floor. Ok so i bled them again and again and again and every time it was the same, loads of air bled out, good pedal but when i drove it the pedal went straight to the floor. I have put about two liters of fluid through the system now and every time I'm getting loads of air coming out. When i drive the car if i pump the pedal i get pressure at the pedal but the brakes still don't feel like they are working. I think there must be air getting in to the system but there is no fluid leaking out so i just don't get it. Does anyone have any ideas? could it be the master cylinder? Cheers steve.

Wow August last year i last updated! Smurf is still not on the road, but she is booked in for mot next Thursday. One of the things it needed for mot was brake pipes, i decided to buy a flaring tool and a roll of pipe and ended up replacing them all. Now I'm having a problem getting them bleed. I bleed them all got a good pedal took it for a spin and the pedal went straight to the floor,so i did them all again and again and its still the same. If you pump the pedal you can get pressure but the brakes still don't feel like they are working. I have put two liters of fluid through the system now and every time I'm getting loads of air out but the brakes still don't work. There is air getting in to the system somehow but there is no fluid leaking out so i just don't get it. I'm thinking the master cylinder must be at fault? Does anyone have any ideas? Cheers steve.

You should be fine with that size wheel and tyre. I've got exactly the same size on mine and mine is a dam site lower than yours and they are fine. where are they rubbing? front or rear?

Do any radio stations still broadcast on am? Think i need to binge read some 205 threads in the hope it boasts my mojo,my poor car has been off the road nearly a year now, and I've got nothing to offer excuse wise.

nomanisanisland Lowering is easy on the front not so easy on the rear. The front just needs lowering springs, I used -40 mm on mine. For the rear its a case of removing torsion bars and resetting. The problem iv found is getting the 20+ year old torsion bars out. I ended up removing the whole rear beam because its so much easier to get it apart off the car. While its apart i would advise fitting new bearings as these are a known problem on these cars. they only cost about £30 so its daft not to. If you google how to lower a 205 you will get a few decent guides on how to. The one i used is the one from welshpug. If you click on the link at the bottom of my post you will find my build. Cheers steve.
