I bought a forester from an auction fitted with a switch that isolated all rear lights including brake lights?? I have my suspicions but has anyone else got any ideas why? We once brought a mk2 golf with the same feature, turns out the previous owner was dealer and used to turn his rear lights to hide when being chased but still have headlights to see

The door cards are from the 1.4 L model mk4 either 2 or 5 door by size id say there from a 2 door. If you wern't miles away id make you an offer as previous experience of posted door cards have not been good.

Of course no one likes having cars pinched, if its found in bits or complete then it's a win..

Gutted for loss, know just how it feels. there are ways around it.you can waver the fee by either allowing the police to keep posesion, scrap and keep the proceeds or your insurance will reimburse you if you decide to claim.

I know where your coming from belive me. Having sold a very tidy mk1 MR2 only to replace it with a very rotern 2.8capri, the hours of work and sense of achivent once finished soon removed any regrets for selling the MR2

if the thought is in your head to sell the tina, sell it. If you feel you've done all you want to do then move on and sort the vic out, regret is terrible thing!

We picked a triumph spitfire a few years back. After talking to the seller and getting as much info on the condition etc we decided to forgo the trailer and go for a pre mot. The car was in Onga comming to northamptonshire. We pre booked it with the mot station we've used for the last 20yrs+ for the last appointment of the day, gave them all the info and off we went. Just as we pulled onto the M11 a traffic unit swung up infront and got us to follow him to the services. After 10mins of checking paper work, insurance, correct log book info personnel ID (best to take your driving license) he then asked us to call the garage and pass the phone over so we did, after giving the reg number it was confirmed so he sent us on our way all be it following us for some 20miles before cutting off. The car made it back in one piece and only need new brake pipe for it's ticket.

Our old 405D clocked 498k when we had it. It was owned by Fastline factors so it was serviced upto the eyeballs. It eventually died due to a worn clutch the cost of a new one was greater than the cost of the car, scrapped it, cashed in the tax and made a £45 profit.

Chances are the car will now use less choke when cold as its now getting a better flow.. You'll know if it's ever over richened as you'll get a whiff of petrol from the exhaust. You ideally want a warm tickover idle of around 750/900rpm. One thing to consider is to also start to run an additive every few tanks, modern fuel is full of ethanonl which damages the brass workings of the carb and in some cases has been known to gum the jets up with metal debris
