bulbs fine, checked and swapped to make sure.
10v (10v regulator on clocks) at the bulb on the clocks - 6v out of the plug, t4 clocks are notorious for poor solder joints.

LONG EXPLANATION AS TO WHY
Battery light came on my T4 2.4D, no charge to the battery, did checking today tracing previous repairs ect. The exciter wire is only getting 6v when disconnected and reading 2-3v when connected - not enough to engergise.
I'm believing its the clocks at fault after stripping down and checking I'm getting the same voltages (as above) directly out of the clocks and the battery light is dim when compared to the others.
Alternator is ok, i gave the exciter terminal a quick 12v and it started charging fine. I could do with bodging this until i can find some replacement clocks.
QUESTION
Can i simply just use an ignition live feeding a relay to provide the exciter terminal 12v? or will it need a diode or bulb to drop the voltage slightly?
Its only a temp measure so i can get to work and until some new clocks arrive and i don't need the battery warning light to work.
Cheers.

That is the FAST idle screw, not the idle screw.
The top butterfly is the choke, it should be closed up when cold and open fully open when the choke is off.(it is closed in you picture, which is correct for a warm engine)
Choke is electrically contolled (basically a heating element), its on the otherside of the carb, has a single wire going to it, you adjust it by loosing the 3 screws slightly and turning it.
It should sit where it is on your picture when the choke is off and on the top step with a cold engine, and should drop down the little steps as it warms up.

Rubbish steering locks can also make it alot easier for a thief to snap the steering lock mechanism in the column, before taking the crappy steering wheel lock off in 20 seconds.

This may sound harsh but alot of the time its true.
How to not get scammed - don't let the greed of a potential bargain make you forget your common sense.
Ive heard it so many times the scammers don't even have to ask for a deposit, the person getting scammed is so blinded by the thought of loosing this bargain they offer it themsleves to secure it. Its only after they have sent it that the obvious becomes apparent.
First checks if unsure - google reverse image search, this will pretty much show you if the images have been posted anywhere before.

Telepathic policeman ? Yet to meet one!! No different from borrowing a mates car. Police check the car is insured, police check you are insured on a car with third party extension. All good. On your way. Not the best way to go about things but it gets the car home. Suppose it depends how far you have to travel etc. The Police would know exactly who the car was registered to before they even pulled you over, so when when your details don't match they would then make further enquiries. So you try and blagg them, say its your mates car you have borrowed - might work if you live in the same city. Well it might work until they contact the registered keeper to check if you have permission to drive it (ie its not TWOC). Is they guy going to lie to the coppers no. Or what if you have a crash, smash up a 100k car, leave someone with serious injurys and your driving unisured - all to save £50. Sorry for the rant but your giving out proper curse word information.

Is it still insured and do you have 3rd party cover ? If so, ask the owner to date the v5 a day later and you technically don't own the car so can drive it home. Theres no technically here, he would own the car the V5 means nothing, and if you got pulled any copper would figure out within a minute of talking to you that you were the new owner and therefore driving it uninsured. Check your policy, the wording on it WILL have been tightened up in the last year. I've just renewed and mine now categorically states any car on the DOC extension HAS to be owned by someone else(or technically registered to them I guess) AND be insured by someone else too, otherwise you are uninsured. Dez is right, basically done to stop the trend of buying a cheap to insure car with DOC extension and then having your evo etc registered to your mum and then driving that everyday. My policy with Aviva doesnt say that it has to be insured though, ive searched and have found no mention of it anywhere in the documents which has suprised me. Id be certainly ring them up to check if i was to do it though - not worth the 6 points, fine and impounded car. I took out a full policy on a car once and cancelled it after I'd collected. They charged me a small fee but it was still cheaper than day insurance! Be careful with this too, insurance have long since clocked on to this and pretty much every policy will incur a hefty admin charge even when cancelling within the cooling off period.

have you tried ringing your current insurer and asking if the can add it onto your existing policy for a short period. Ive done a few times recently nd it has been £30 for 7 days with Aviva, much cheaper than any day insurance.

The plan is to mate it up to a V8 pattern ZF 4HP22 autobox. I've now discovered the PCD of the crank is 8x72mm, which will allow me to draw up an adapter between crank and flex plate, whilst I've also fallen upon a BMW box which I can borrow to measure up and draw out against the V8 bellhousing I've already drawn up. Just need to work out if I need complete oil pump or just a pickup pipe to go with a rear bowl sump. Progress!!! 99% it will just be the pickup pipe, thats the case when you swap sumps over between the m52 engines. You will also need to dipstick pipe too.

Hi, I think one possible way round this is to change the way we buy and sell cars. Instead of the buyer going to see the car, the seller goes to the buyer. They do the deal, sign the paperwork and possibly a timed and dated receipt. Any unroadworthy cars whether mechanically or lacking MOT or insurance or tax are treated in the normal way by car transportation. Colin You are really over complicating it, there is really nothing complicted in how you do it now. If you buy a car you tax it before you drive it away - the same as you used to have do in the past if the car wasnt tax'd. So you do it before you go pick it up, or ring and do thier and then. Or you just take the tiny risk and drive it home and do it when you get back - aslong as you are insured on the car - thats the major one.
