Went to A52 this weekend with my adjustable TCA's, as Bruce had kindly offered the use of the awesomely powerful Porta Mig to weld on a drop link mount. After a quick shuffle around in the nuts draw I found two deep M10 nuts with inbuilt washers which fitted the bill. Ian aka BIAS later informed me they are VW transported seat mount bolts. I attacked the TCA with a flap disc to provide a nice clean surface to weld to and offered up the nut. Bruce then did the honors and welded them on. Thanks to Bruce for his help

Hello and welcome, I'm sure you'll find everyone on here friendly and helpful. Are you planning to modify the Polo or is it a zero rent runabout? Also we love photos Robin

That is awesome!
How to replicate on a much smaller budget:
1. Buy broken satnav off ebay, the cheaper, the better.
2. Remove screen and innards.
3. Glue page from AA street map where screen used to be.
4. Blame satnav when you get lost.

Not having the money to get it on the road then drives me into a state of severe depression, meaning I lack any motivation to work on the car. The organ I sold turns out to be critical to my survival and I have to buy a new one from a crack fiend, paying for it with sexual favours. After I have paid a gang of Romanian gypsies to operate on me under questionable conditions, my crack fiend organ then turns out to be faulty and the warranty is void. It is at this point I turn to the dark side, selling the car to buy a more reliable 2010 Dacia Sandero. The new car is actually more expensive than the Fiat was, and the cost means I am now much further in debt. The loan shark who helped me out now wants triple his money back by the end of the week. This causes me to lose sleep and my health starts to deteriorate. The Dacia is so bland and boring I fall asleep at the wheel and am sent careering to my untimely death under an 18 wheeler carrying feminine hygiene products. The End. Happens all the time ;D

Does the clutch pedal just go to the floor normally? or is it hard to push down?
As Craig said the clutch quadrant could be at fault, the one on my old gold Sierra used to over tighten the cable and snap them every couple of months (really should have changed it, but it was easier to change the cable). Just before it snapped them the clutch would become really heavy.

Swap the front lights for standard ones and I think this one would be a winner!

Is that a bodykit'd up mk1 Celica? Cher looks mega rough lol! I remember seeing those spoilers on Celicas back in the early 80's. A very bad airbrush painting of Cher indeed, lol. I bet she was happy with that. ;D Indeed a dreadful likeness! Toyota Corona behind the blue beetle?

Double up! 8 tyres Martin far too expensive! I'd thought about 14's but I really like the style of the original Chevette steel, and then it's the cost of finding nice looking 4x100 14" steels Won't cut it, need the wheels to have as much barrel as possible! Besides, the look you're trying to achieve needs a fair ammount of stretch to get the tyre wall to the same curve as the inside of the arch. Good point Mark, that 205 on a 9 doesn't look that bad. I think the best thing to do is get hold of a part worn 205/60R13 to trial fit it. Just need to make a final measurement and then ship the wheels off to Jamesp for some magic ;D

I realise that I'm probably being unrealistic in my request, but here goes My lovely rangerbob wheel arch extentions for my Chevette have turned up YAY! ;D This now poses the question of wheel fitment and width. My plan was/is to get the original 13" steel wheels banded to fit the arches, after a quick measure up it appears I have around 5 inches or so of clearance from the edge of the standard wheel to the edge of the over fender. Given that the standard wheels are around 5" or 5.5" wide I'd be looking to double the width of the wheel. So where can I find affordable 13" tyres that will fit a 10x13" wheel without a stupid amount of stretch? The widest sensible money 13's I can find are 205/60 Nankangs (which I think are going to be too thin) for £40 a pop. Anything wider than this seems to be crazy money! Gratuitous shots of stance I'm trying to achieve.....

I believe the top one need to be used with an air gun, they are very similar to the ones that Laser do and they say on the packet that they won't work with hand tools.

Completely missed this thread, although I remember looking over this in the show field at the gathering this year. Proper bit of kit and awesome build thread, so much work for a conversion that looks as if was meant to be there (well as long as you ignore NISSAN stamped across the rocker cover!). A credit to you
