Made four hose fitting YAY! Although I did completely benny one of the fittings, Grrrrr AN fittings still not a fan. Ran the lines through the car Boot floor fuel pump window thing, with bulk head fittings YAY! The (old) engine runs and other than an initial leak from me not tightening a fitting up enough, it doesn't leak! WIN! The Ashley 4-2-1 manifold exited as a 2.25" at the collector and then stepped down to 2", after a bit of research I decided to run a 2.25" exhaust so I cut the 2" section off the manifold and welded on a 2.25" flange to match the rest of the system and then die-ground/hammered the pipe to match Also made a start on the rest of the system After a little faff with the hubs I bought some fancy CompBrake tie rod ends (which annoying aren't great) and just drilled a straight hole in the hubs Hopefully this will unlock more steering angle without it being tooooo sensitive on the steering. Also fitted some cup holders too, because priorities Oh and I've got an MOT booked this Thursdays... feeling a bit sick...

Hopefully this screen grab will explain the title of this thread... Also Steve what will you be in mate? Basically I'm really slow and what should have been a 3 to 4 month hiatus for the Sierra for MOT repairs, turned into 2 years of neglect and procrastination. However that time is over and I have an MOT booked on Thursday and a car that is almost ready for an MOT. The car in question below, old photo granted... but doesn't actually look any better. You get the idea. Anyway one else on target for a Goodwood with a car that's been off the road?

More progress. Things are coming together, although I wish I'd never removed the original hard fuel lines New screen fitted, seats back in, (cheap knock off) Wink mirror fitted... Also bought some faux Hella driving lights to replace the smashed OE ones. Plus I'm a sucka for light covers... Also I've spent a small fortune at Exact Engineering (local motorsport hose specialist) to try and fix the fact I should never have thrown away the original metal and plastic fuel lines. So I basically bought some cupronickel pipe to run under the car (which was a curse word and I couldn't flare), then I decided to run the fuel lines through the car so I ordered some Chinese 'stainless steel' bulk head fittings (which turned out to brass, initially not an issue but now I'm having to use AN fittings they are useless as I can weld an AN boss to them) and 7 metres of fuel hose (which turned out to be no good as rubber hose lets fuel vapours out) So I ended up buying, this (ignore the fittings in the middle they are no good) PTFE fuel line (no vapours!)... ...and four of these bulk head fittings... ...oh and had to make this... ...and cover it with this... Although this has confirmed my hatred of AN fittings, annoying finicky things!

good work, not trying to tell ye how to suck eggs , but try turning your wire speed down a turn .less weld build up Advice I need to follow, I tend to rush into welding rather than taking my time to get the setting right. Update... Wire wheeling off all the old paint and surface corrosion, rubbish job... Cage in primer... Painting tubes with thinner yellow paint out of a rattle can, ultra rubbish job. Patchy as hell and the paint just wanted to run... Still it’s almost ready to go back in! I’m preparing to completely ruin the paint getting it back in the car just need to truck bedliner the rest of the floor in the car. Front hubs off... To get redrilled 20mm further in to increase lock Also been messing around with the 2.3 engine to get the coolant pipes to work. Usually these are blocked off with blanks on the Galaxy because the FWD setup doesn’t use them, annoyingly the RWD pipe fitting fouls the 2.3 block so I took the pipe to the local hose shop and got this... Swivel fitting means it doesn’t hit the block when fitting it. Yay! Although it’s now too far over and will now hit the manifold. Boo! Sooooo I’ve chopped it up...

Brake saga Soooo the spacer heater is completely broken so painting the rollcage in weather this cold is verging on pointless. Which gave me the kick in the posterior, to finally measure up the front brakes lines, get them made and fit them. So I got standard Sierra front brake hoses made up.... Then measured from the master cylinder/accumulator to the front hoses, using the scientific method of old electrical cable... Quick trip to Exact Engineering in Totnes... Early 2000’s Max Power Girl poster for extra win! Hoses!!!!!!! Fitting montage... Master joined up with rear hose, tactically placed join so hydraulic handbrake is easy to install at a later date... Productive day super happy, just need to fill the system with brake fluid and wait for the inevitable leak because I’ve failed to tighten a union correctly. Hoping to get fuel lines tomorrow... engine running for the weekend? I’m getting ahead of myself right?

Impressive work on the spit, I can recall a 2wd 24v Escort Cosworth but don’t think I’ve ever seen a 4wd done one. Excellent project look forward to seeing it come together.

I took that first photo outside my work I clocked the RX7 on the trailer today as I was heading to my workshop, the Gloria is a stupidly cool car. Is that conceptua tuning? I've bought parts from there for loads of my projects. Yes mate, I work at Conceptua

Today has basically been a pitched battle of wits with the diesel burning space heater. I needed the space heater to work for everything I wanted to do today, mainly cavity waxing and painting. Thankfully the temperamental POS worked for a full 3 and a half hours before doing its usual trick of smoking the workshop out. Anyway enough of me moaning! Cavity waxed the living curse word out of the sill I welded up, evidence of schutz gun and waxoyl Then started to paint the rollcage... yellow obviously Also welded the bolt in diagonal bar, the threads were a bit knackered and I’m not fussed about it being removable. Oh I’ve also painted the floor with truck bed liner, it’s hard wearing and requires zero skill as it self levels fantastically. Next time on the Worlds Slowest Slow and Sideways Sierra Project more painting and struggles with the space heater.

Looks good with the drop, I’ve used those proper merc spring compressor a few time to lower 190Es and it’s a great setup makes it one of the easiest car to lower! Love the dish on those rear wheels too, looks proper smart.

Top bombing, Sierra roll cages really bug me visually when in a 5 door, i don't know whether anyone else has the same issue with them, they just look wrong as the distance between the a and b bar is for a 3 door, I know this is how they are made but it's just an annoyance I know what you mean, and this is allegedly a 5 door specific cage too, you’d have thought they’d have moved the hoop forward to sit closer to the b-pillar. I think it’s just laziness I guess they probably designed the original cage for the 3 door shell and did the bare minimum to adapt it to fit the different models... still I’m happy with it hoping it stiffens up the chassis and provides a bit of extra protection if the usual tomfoolery goes wrong!

Adjustable top mounts are the best idea, although I've used Sierra eccentric top mount before but they don't have enough adjustment IMO. Was looking at making E36 ones fit. I planned to make some plates to cut and weld to the towers, which would accept some generic ebay ones for maximum shoddyness Combined with the usual ARB bushing customization and/or moving the mounts i think i should finally be content. Have you checked how to escort and capri control arms fit sierras? Maybe they have more caster? Adjustable ones seems cheaper than sierra ones. Maximum shoddyness sounds like something I'm down for, I had thought about this before but never got round to it because I didn't trust my fabrication skills... however it's something I feel confident I could do now. The adjustable compression struts aren't great either, you get the same bumper/arch to tyre issues and also it means either getting rid of the ARB or relocating it with a front mounted ARB kit (done this before, a lot of hassle for what you get) The Polo ARB blocks are also available with the hole for the ARB centrally instead of further forward. Although at £50 I'm not sure its worth it for the Sierra setup. Tom Yeah £50 for something that's not guaranteed to work is a bit steep, I've got a mate who works at a machineshop who can probably make something with dreadful drawings lol! Got a bit more done on the cage last night, drilled the holes for the rear hoop so that's all bolted in now... Hopefully I'll have the front mounts finished and drilled over the weekend and get the hole cage bolted in for the final test fit. Super happy with how it's turned out
