the story behind why we never restored it was the metal was very brittle and i mean you could snap it with your fingers so i pushed the roof out with some hydraulic jacks ..the best we could ..offered it to gaydon first ..no answer back so i put it in auction with no reserve ..the rest is history love it or hate it I love it, but by pushing the roof out you ruined the patina. Great save though and a nice bit of history.

The only problem ive had with insurance was when my Mk2 Granada got nicked and the insurance company valued it as a Mk3. They had all the details they needed to know exactly what the car was, but insisted that the value was as per a Mk3. They asked me for adverts of similer cars and lost them, during one phone car I got passed from pillar to post and ended up telling them that if I get passed on to someone else I'll put the phone down and take it further. Along with the stresses of a car being stolen and having to find another one whilst walking or bussing (Honestly id rather walk) this was the last thing I needed. It was sorted in the end, cant remember what the problem was but it was certainly their end. Even if you cross the T's and dot the I's you can still get messed about, my insurance has been pretty straight forward over the years, and can still be a pain in the backside when it IS straightforward!

I believe that's a late Ford Corcel/Corcel2. I was disappointed that the split cloverleafs looked 'shopped when I saw it. If it wernt for the rear lights id say VW, ive seen afew VW looking fords on here that come from Brazil. What is that light blue 2dr coupe thing that looks like a Mk2 Granada but its got 4 stud hubs?

I love the work on this, the interior is perfect, give a flavour of Cafe racer without looking like its trying, though it would look right at home parked outside the Ace Cafe. Nice work on the model too, very tidy. As said banded steels would look great on this, but if you fancied going up to 14s id recomend some Austin Ambassoder steels. They fit great on a Maxi which also usually has problems with offset. Here's some on my old Maxi Ambassoders also had alloys, but steels are better.

I recon that hardtop would look right at home on there, with a bit of work and blended into the body, widened arches and sorted stance could look rather WTF in a good way. Looks like the front end could be some sort of frogeye sprite wide arch lookalike? no I rekon the front is standard Ah cheers, I'm not too familer with the Dutton, I was expecting more of a caterham 7 look.

Nice article. They were a throwaway car for so long, I myself am guilty of stripping an MG Metro of its vitals for my Mini, they have either rotted away or been raced in high enough numbers to make the remaining few a great alternative to a classic mini now that prices have gone lunar. I drove quite afew when I worked at a Rover Garage and they vary so much from car to car, but a good one is great, so I can imagine a sorted one is a right hoot.

Let me start. The other day I saw a modern what-ever, it has '<' shaped strip sidelights in the headlights, and the indicator was inside the tip of the '<'. It was daylight and he had his sidelights on, I simply didnt see him indicating because the sidelights seemed so bright and the indicator just seemed to be overpowered by it. Please don’t. We don’t want even more negativity about modern cars. Just positivity about older ones. Sorry, it just irked me. Pennance of cool headlights

I suspect the OP has a bit of brand beef and the next crack will be about indicators..... Let me start. There are plenty of perfectly practical cars out there that are 'show only' cars, so building seemingly totally impractical cars like some of these is fine by me, I love seeing how far some people will take certain trends, even donks amuse me in that way.
Aside from the fact that some of the cars in this thread may or may not be impractical, they still look pretty cool. Carry on..

If its being heavily lowered, with those plastic arches width might be more important than diameter, can I suggest Heavily banded.

The boneshaker has come to a temporary halt while i decide what size wheels to use, so I started something else. Ive had this La troca for a while, its awful. Awful wheels, paint, graphics, mould lines all over it, awful goldness. Dispite all that, I quite like it, so I stripped it, spent a fair bit of time filing the unwanted bits off the body, changed the wheels for a set of realriders that I had on a pickup that I wasnt going to drill, and found a trailer. Better. Ive only got 4 of the chrome steels, the rear wheels on the pickup are some standard 5 spokes, seemed a bit of a waste to cover up the steels. The trailer is the back half of a pickup of which I ruined the cab a while ago, its not quite the same as the la troca bed, but its good enough. Ive got another one on the go at the moment, but I accidently melted some wheels today trying to strip some paint off them, so thats come to a halt as well.

I do find the MoT exemption worrying. I know people with old cars who know very little but consider themselves experts. I consider the opinion of an independent expert very important but they won't. If people are dragging old snotters out of long-term storage they were put in because they were shot to pieces, that's even more worrying. I know of a car thats a prime example of why the MOT exemption is a bad idea. It 'passed' its last MOT 2 or more years ago, seldom gets used, when it does get used the brakes are either stuck or binding, goes 5 miles down the road, and then sits for another month or 2. Since its last MOT nothing has been checked or serviced, and it will continue to get used until something stops working. I, for one, wont travel in it, if it gets sold I wont have anything to do with it. The bodywork is deteriorating so I shudder to think what its like underneath.

Ive always had a soft spot for this shape Corrola, its probably just the round headlights when nothing else new had round headlights But spotlights and taxdisc fitted for extra retro spotter points! Also, I don't really do Porshes, don't get me wrong, I get it, but they don't really do anything for me. Also.... ...I lied. Giggidy.
