Thats what i thought but on his screen had a section with 79-86 and says that mine first use is 85 so sits in category yo be tested. Saying pre 79 is only smoke test. Dunno how i can argue with him on this really. Might ring up some other mot places and enquire. This guy will argue the first use part

Hi, my rex has been sat up over winter and took for mot yesterday. Failed on emissions. Firstly i thought pre 86 rotaries were exempt and only smoke tested. But according to tester 79-86 required test and mine was just over. I'm thinkinh running some petrol mix cleaner through before retest and get her properly hot. Any advice here?

Its just a lack of pride in the job i assume. if it were my profession i would like to hand it back clean to show the finished article without any faults and a happy customer. as when i go to a restaurant i expect my food on a clean plate, however it didnt say it was coming on a clean plate in the menu so why should they waste their time, 30 secs cleaning it before hand.?
not the greatest analogy but yeh don't think you can really complain it seems not provided as a rule but the ones who take pride in their work will do.

nope not motorfix. its a garage more in tarnock, fair bit more room than motorfix has. and yes no where near as many people interested as we thought. but may well still go ahead with soemthing.

run MSCONFIG and create a selective startup to only include the essential microsoft services and see if it improves, i would recomend uninstalling any anti virus software and then run spybot. as mentioned above miscrosofts free tools provided are plenty enough with a bit of cautious browsing. ive always personally found anti virus software more a nuisance than a virus itself, and it constantly runs in background.
but sounds like your laptop has been well used and would probs benefit most from a reinstall. pain in the ass though.
also if your OS hard drive is over 50% full that can make you pc run alot slower.

Great cars, and no idea why anyone would dislike those wheels for the 323. they look great on it, all it needs is to be a bit lower and perfect imho. but whatever you do to it they are fantastic cars and yours seems a good example.

yeah would be nice to see a small meet with actual use rather than sitting around not talking to anyone, like you get in most meets. burger van and some actual worskspace would be good. hopefully get more interest and see how it goes

Well firstly RC drifters were 4WD and with hopups, faster motors, locked diffs and more steering angle they get better at it. then came counter steering setups so with pulleys or gearing setups make the rear wheels have more turns per the front. effectively shifting it to 30-70 split. i run a sakura D3 chassis which is actually a kind of cheap china made one but its served me well but because its a counter steer setup still cost me (with hopups) around 3-400. running 2.14, so rear wheel turns 2.14 times for every revololution of fronts.. this makes it constanly kick back end out on power so is alot more realistic to drift handling than the setup of standard rc drifters 50/50.
it then went RWD but this is only possible due to the insane amount of steering angle and to be honest i woudlnt recomend this to peopel jumping into the scene as its more expensive and alot harder.
so out of the 3 options id say jump in at the 4wd 50/50 market don't spend alot, when your ready and if you enjoy it move on to countersteer setup. best 50/50 car on the market to get id say is a TT-01 by tamiya.. ok not stand alone the best, mst and a few other brands may beat it on quality but, its very sturdy so will put up with your beginer punishment... loads of part availabilty and cheap to repair. and you can pick em up RTR ready to run for £100 all in. which youll probs get most of that back when you come to sell it.
slap on drift tyres, lock the diffs, max out that steering lock and maybe get one or buy uprated brushless motor and your good to go drifting.

A friend and mechanic of mine who is a kean car enthusiast and a garage owner always talk about how nice it would be if all the things mentioned breifly in the title were in one place.
so fishing around for interest before we actually try it out.
basically we are in somerset near burnham on sea, and as much as he likes working on interesting cars its the day to day boring stuff that keeps flowing in, so he would like to open his doors to people with the same joy for cars. in the hope of seeing and working on some nice things. so for one night (undertermined day, poss weekend sat?) create a gathering/car meet outside his unit which is out of the way and has hardstanding for 20+ cars and more on gravel area, which could have an operating burger van, floodlighting and open his workshop with 3x 2post ramps in. he would be there and available to do work on peoples cars, and or rent the ramps for the night per hour for a very reasonable fee and be there offering any help he can.
he also offers rent a ramp for outside of this idea. inbox me for details if your interested.
So a car meet with burgers car talk and workshop use, any feedback to improve on this or any questions just ask, as mentioned i am just fishing for interest to see if people will take up on it. he mentioned he isnt even bothered if no one rents a ramp or gets work done, he genuinely would just like a small workshop get together with car talk and food.
thinking one off and see how it goes before planning any further, what you think.?
