oh nice.! cheers for finding it. guess i was just using bad search criteria. yep probably 85hp then i think i only worked out mine roughly by converting kw from one of the laser forums. though i doubt mines running anywhere near that even though only done 65,000 miles.

thanks for the pics, really helpfull, i honestly havent had much time to tinker with this yet. and am not the most able mechanic to say the least. had agander on the bay, cant find one. . will keep looking and will check yankbay in a bit. the laser engine is same I think.? so may have to source from usa. tight week money wise, but will have to get it done soon.. and find a break in work to get it sorted. who knows if I can get her running good again I might be able to convince myself into stalling the engine swap... but I think its inevitable at some point... only so long I can cope with 75hp

The little 1.5 twin carb is starting to struggle a little and i suspect gasket. increasing amount of whiteish smoke being thrown out exhuast when applying throttle. (worse when temp at highest) first of all wondering if anyone knows where i might find gaskets for the old girl.? and I'm also now hugely considering the prospect of dropping a B6T engine in from the Bf 323 turbo 4wd. i want to avoid having to use the heavy 4wd box and refuse to go the mx5 drivetrain route (which would involve cutting tunnel through for rwd'ness... nice but no thanks) so wondering if anyone knows what box would be best for it... i have a feeling even if standard box fits it wont be able to handle the power. been thread hunting on various forums but not found alot tbh. guna go investigate the 323 f forums now and see if any use can be found there.

lovin those mini z's and brings back memories seeing the old midnight pumpkin, had one of those when i were knee high to a grass hopper.
i still play about with nitro trucks today, got a cheaply made silversnake from great vigor models.. so cheap that it doesnt break expensive parts, they just fall off and re attach... excellent cheap an cheerfull rc it has put up with all kinds of abuse.. i can do most bmx tracks clearing doubles etc. skate parks too... but they tend to hurt the old girl alot. will post pics when i get around to takin some.

looks great, I appreceate that your doing all you can to spare it and bring her back to glory. and when its all done it will be a hell of a background story for the car.... but for those that like to just buy a pre resto or for those who just plain like inspiration and the car for what it is heres something I found on my travels a while back. www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/2147979.htm

yeh fewer and farer between for sure, great to see others on here who own or have owned them.. i find it hard to explain my connection with this car to anyone who hasnt owned one. i have an 86 4wd turbo in my garage too, waiting for funds to undergo full restoration, hence why i have two spare b6t engines and GB.
cheers mat, yeh ive been trolling through the laser forums for some time looking for info.. only conversions i tend to find are one off rotary jobs etc. but i don't want to cut a tunnel into her to use rx7/mx5 running gear or use the heavy 4wd gear so need to find a suitable Fwd box as i don't think the standard one would mate or hold up to the strain. case of waiting untill i can take her off the road for a bit and whip it all out and see how things fit. p.s. that pic was yours.? looks great, color coded trim etc deffinatley brings it forward a few years, and suprisingly like the subtle arches and skirt. gunna try and stay stock ish looking on mine tho.

yeh i think I'm only the 3rd or 4th owner from new, the engine and box is a little ropey too but its all still kicking so see how long i can keep it goin untill time comes to fit b6t.
interior is immaculate twiddle knob radio (no fm, no tape deck even!) love it.. not going to install headunit if i do i will hide it under seat or something and leave it looking factory inside.
would love to get all the known ones of these together some day for a shoot. i live near cheddar gorge thats always a nice location for it.

cheers, and ive never wanted a cardboard box so much in my life! i looked around for a while myself to try and find kits/displays of the old girl and came accross this. www.hlj.com/product/SAP333461/43 scale though so pretty damn small but if it was stock id be getting one sent right away. (woudl have to spray it white tho ;-))

oh yes plenty of space, thats the next thing on my list after sorting a few minor things out. its looking like custom suspension is the only way, just don't know any options available for it. its also my daily so things will come along slowly but surely. the standard engine is only 64k but just feels strained so one of my spare b6t's might find its way in some day. redtop2dr how do you know the car mate? i bought it from a guy in devon area just before christmas last year, been looking for one for years, and thought it was tidy as hell but turns out the rear sills were filled with putty. and the ol alloys came of within days of being on the road, found these cheap ones localish and threw em on as temps untill i can find some suitable dish ;-) (considering slot mags) I'm keeping the originals tho, I'm not stupid enough to get rid

Hey all I'm new here, posted this recently on OJC forums and thought id say hello on here as well, and introduce my car. mazda 323 1.5 twin carb bd1984 with twr factory splitter and spoiler. just got it on the road needed a small amount of welding work, was after one of these for years having owned one before and still own a 323 turbo 1.6 bf. no plans just tidying her up as and when I can.
